That is a pretty good price but if that means we finally get a good 2C I'll do it.

They would have to make more trades, and hope that they can trade their guys to open cap.

I tried to start one with Tampa but the downside to cheaper signs having no state tax is everyone gets no trade clauses.

No way they part with Cirelli. His skill set is not easily replaced. They have a fair number of wingers that I imagine would go long before they ever considered moving him.

Good luck getting them all to waive and also getting the team they're waiving for to eat the full contract. Every one of their wingers has full NTC's except Killorn (whose 16 team no trade list begins July 1 this year). That's way easier said than done especially now with a flat cap.

I don't see how Tampa could match an offer sheet for anything above $6M on Cirelli so the best thing they can do might be a trade.

More like no way they want to part with him, but they are gonna be against it hard this offseason. Too many NMC and uncertainty with the cap. I think the deal is pretty fair in value, but as jets fan I am hesitant to see that 2020 pick be traded. Maybe make it a second and add Niku? I honestly think Niku would thrive with the bolts

If it was any other team, I'd say chances are far slimmer Cirelli resigns, but this is Tampa. Yzerman and his apprentice, who is now the GM, have done a truly masterful job at getting their young core and top guys to buy into a team system and take less money. It happened with Stamkos, it happened with Kucherov, happened with Hedman, Point, etc. I am sure they will find a way to make the numbers work, even if that means moving on from Gourde or Johnson or Palat, or perhaps a couple of them.
