Team: 2020-21 New York Rangers
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 21, 2020
Published: Jun. 21, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Its just an idea. But want insight on it.
Andersson for Mittelstadt- an even swap. Rangers can add a little more to entice Buffalo but obviously not too much.

Now this one is a stretch.
Staal will waive his no move this off season (I hope). Clearly he will waive it to a contending team. I saw a deal where he was dealt to the kings. I dont see that happening. To sweeten the deal I add in Howden (a young center who still has the upside to be a good player). Howden is pretty good a defensive forward he just needs more seasoning in the NHL. What is Lowry like? What would be the asking price from the Jets to move him.
I was thinking about moving Staal to Pittsburgh (half retained) but I didnt know if they had the cap space to get him.

like the buf and Ott deal, WPG is not a good destination for cap dumps and if your retaining you don't pay that much to dump them

What is wrong with Andersson? I saw some Rangers fans say that the head coach put him in the fourth link and he could not prove himself, is it the trainer's fault or is Andersson himself to blame?

Well, this was known even during the draft, but in this the problem why he left for Sweden and did not want to stay in the Rangers system.

skating is average. His problem is that he overthinks, hesitates, and starts a step or 2 behind. Most likely a result of getting a short leash from the coach and scared to make mistakes.

There are also rumors of stuff with Hartford teammates, which led to his departure.

I don't see the rangers trading andersson for mitts simply because of the draft. It would look bad to make this trade years later, and insulting to scouts. You don't do that when there is little upside.

The reason why he left for Sweden was because he didn't want to play in Hartford. There were supposedly issues in Hartford with his teammates. He was "butt-hurt" that he got sent down after not being able to produce or show why he should be playing on any other line besides the fourth. A statement came out that he missed Sweden and missed his friends and family and thats why he went back. I agree the Rangers wronged him and he has every right to request a trade. However, at least prove that you belong on another line besides the fourth. And better yet, prove your worth and get back to the NHL and boost up your trade value so a team would want you.

Minnesota maybe? He's a Thunder Bay kid and his bro plays there, idk man I just know very few guys would ever waive for Winnipeg and even though
Thunder Bay is 8 hours down the highway from Winnipeg I don't see Staal waiving his trade protection to be a Jet.

I can't say I've watched much if any of Lias Andersson
play but I've watched plenty of young players get started out on a ****ty fourth line with crappy players of completely different skill sets that struggle, get bounced around from different lines, not given much of a chance with consistent linemates and eventually the player amounts to not much and is written off as a bust or just not having what it takes to be an NHL player but it always makes me wonder if that former prospect is a bust or his development was just handled so poorly that the kid couldn't get on track and his career just fizzled out because of it.
Not saying to just hand prospects top line minutes but if all you got is crappy 4th line work for a guy that you project to be a top 6 forward the best place for that kid is the AHL or back to junior/college.
Idk if that's what happened with Andersson but it sounds something like it.

Actually he got sent down because he wasn't playing well and they wanted to give him more ice time in Hartford. But he went back to Sweden because of the incidents above
