Lehkonen is nowhere close to Saad nor is chicago in a predicament to shed salary quickly. It would take much more to acquire Saad.

I agree that you'll need to add more for Saad (and I don't see CHI trying to deflate Saad's value with the addition of Maata) -- but this would be a good team. Your LD is the biggest weakness - but your forwards are very solid. No superstars, but a lot of really good forwards throughout the lineup.

Dont see why we need Strome or Lias, MTL has plenty of centers already and will have to likely deal one for a LHD either next year or the year after.

MTL needs to add to the Chicago deal. Thats a fine starting point but you're not giving up enough for Saad

Chi goal was to reduce to fit under the cap... and getting Matta contract as a cost as well.... we all agree Saad vs Lehko is already close + Brook give MTL more value for Saad.
We can switch a 3rd for a 4th in the mixed but nothing more important

i understand the "sell high on strome" but poehling still has higher value by himself than strome would. not to mention mete. Andersson has literally no value right now. Thats a fleece job by the rangers. Zero chance bergevin does that.

I like Lias ceilling as he could turn as a big power forward on the wings.
Mtl doesn't have enough guy that could make 50pts +

We can argue of Strome vs Poehling... question who made 50pts + in the big league?
Dom Peolhing can make this... maybe but Strome did.

I think Maatta with more responsabilty playing with Webby or Petry would help him to skate more with the puck like he did in the past.
With all the youth LHD that should be up like Romanov... we can trade out Mete for a one year Maatta... and we can select Sanderson in a week!

1 year doesnt make him a 50+ player. Ide bet almost any center could put up 50 points next to panarin when he has 90+... strome has been on lines with tavares, mcdavid, draisaitl, and rnh. this is the first time hes had over 40 points in his entire career. Strome is about to be 27... poehling has played 28 NHL games. I hate the habs, but ide let the rangers keep that problem and see what poehling has to offer.

I understand your point and that's why adding a A-Prospect in Brook is a must.
Saad is an amazing two way player (that'S Lehko speciality) but Saad can find more the net than Lehko... Chi would have a younger guy for many year vs Saad who will be out UFA trying to sign another big $$$ in a year

MTL doesnt have enough 50+ point centers? Except for Domi, Danault, Suzuki in a couple years and KK in a couple years.....that's 4 centers that will be 50 point and above centers. That's literally two to many already, and your trading for players that are big question Mark's to be 50 point centers, Lias is a maybe if he will even be a NHLer and Strome hasnt looked good anywhere except centering Panarin.

Once again, the trade makes no sense

Hawks have no problems being under the cap with saad. And we aern't paying you to take maata. The buyout is only 680K, but I believe we could get back a pick for him somewhere else (Devils fans will give a 3rd for him on this site, as yes I know this site is not real life). If you don't want to add then thats fine but you aern't getting saad for this

Maybe I have it wrong with the cap for Chicago but... with 9M available with a roster of 18... + Who from the 3 IRL will be back (at least Seabrook & DeHann) +10M= Roster of 20 with 1M over the cap+
Chicago need to sign: Kubalik (3M) Strome (3M) Koekkoek (1,5M)
So all that said:
New Roster of 22 players with a total spent of 90M$

Shaw will be on LTIR which clears 4 mil. Matta will be traded to save another 4 mil or worst case scenario bought out to save 3.4 mil. Smith will be traded to save 3.25 mil or most likley bought out to save another 2.1 mil. Crawford won't get 6 mil AAV on this next contract (probably more around 4 mil AAV). All that comes out to a savings of between 11-14 mil which when subtracted off the 90 mil you mentioned gets us easily under the 81.5 mil cap. So year moves have to be made, but those moves wont be saad (maybe at the TDL but not now). We currently have around 10-12 NHL level defenceman fighting for 6
spots. Some of them will have to be moved regardless of the cap situation
