6 very real points? Pick is conditional in that deal so its basically Freddie for 1st until he re-signs. Which is lower than it was in 2016. Counting in is his age (26 vs. 30), sort of meh performances this year but still counting other 3 top level years into it. Lehners deal was lower valued since Vegas had their starter and he was brought as not a need and was NOT expected to re-sign. Lehner is better goalie. Not by much but still he is a better goalie, but 1st round pick for Freddie is a must and whatever is condition on other things is up to debate.

Let's rephrase this discussion because I found myself bringing up the same points... Why was Lehner available for CHI to pick up as a UFA for a 1 year $5M contract? Why would any team trade a 1st round pick for a goalie rental? Lehner is still out there. Crawford is a UFA. I personally think Matt Murray is going to become a UFA...this off season...due to the results and process of arbitration. Greiss...Talbot...why send a 1st round pick for 1 year?

I agree but even tho he has had small injuries... Everytime we need Murray he shows up big. Even at the end of last yr he played the final 20+ games & he is the only reason we got into playoffs last yr, thats how good he is. U can point at numbers or whatever but if u think GMJR would trade Murr's for an avg 3rd line LWer... its crazy.
