NYR pass

really?

I mean I think you guys win the trade if it's Georgiev for Labanc 1 for 1 and Lemieux doesn't have a ton of value.

MN passes, we're not going to give up all that just for Couture. If anything that would be Staal for Couture straight up. I'd still rather keep Staal, at least he's off the books after next year.

Nice try though.

What do you mean? NYR wouldn't move him for anything less than an overpay. he's a young tom Wilson type player who've we needed forever. Sandpaper type player who's young and can actually play hockey

lol no way we're doing Couture for Staal

There's been a couple Buffalo teams where they give a 1st for Couture plus a prospect or decent forward

nice try though Sticking Out Tongue

he might have the play style of Wilson but he's a bottom 6 winger

doesn't matter. He's too important to us. Plays a very underrated role. not a 30 goal scorer but important for us to keep unless some team offers an overpay like a 1st rounder

tbh I think most Leafs fans would pay around a 2nd for Lemieux.

If they want to overpay for Couture that's their problem. Believe me, I get it, I love Couture as I'm a Sharks fan too, as they're my 3rd favorite team after the Wild and Penguins.

But please, let's be real here. That contract kills any and all value that Couture would of had otherwise, it's easily Parise/Suter level of bad.

And if were going to compare value between these two players, Staal comes out the winner. And it's not really a contest.

Staal is 35; 436G 585A for 1,021 points in 1240 games in his career. Plus, he's on one of the most team friendly contracts with only a year left on it.

Couture is 31; 256G 290A for 546 points in 715 games. Plus that anchor of a contract until 2027.

As good as Couture is there is no way he can match Staal's numbers in four years unless he plays a much longer career than Staal.

Nice try though. Winking with Tongue Out

I don’t care how many points they’ve gotten in their career

Yes Staal’s contract is better, but Couture is better overall

Couture is also a beast in the playoffs (I guess that doesn’t really help Minnesota though) smile
