Description
All skill and very little jam but... It is what it is.

The Johnsson trade was merely for cap compliance reasons. I'd rather keep him but he seems to be the odd one out at his salary and position. Especially if Robertson factors in next year.

This group would likely get pushed around a lot but, this is the situation that they have created for themselves.

I would be totally fine with that too. Why not push the skill out there as much as possible right? It makes sense.

Thoughts on Engvall as 3rd line C after we Kerfoot instead and keep Johnsson?

I have never liked Engvall as a centre. Especially as a 3C.

In a pinch if there were injuries, sure. No way would I feel good about him as a full time centre and never as a full time centre on the 3rd line.

Engvall is a good PK'er. He can chip in with a small amount of offence and the occasional goal or even shorty. Beyond that, he is a 4th liner or a scratch IMO.

Kerfoot has more value to this team than Johnsson at present IMO.

Don't think Johnsson gets you an inexpensive NHL Dman. But might trade Johnsson probably just for zero cap hit as you suggest

Arizona easily says no. They need RHD to, and with the cap staying flat wont want to give up one that's that cheap

I think Engvall has the speed to play C.
I am thinking next season will be growth year for him.

Having the speed to do it and being able to do are very different things.

Kapanen has outstanding speed. That doesn't make him a good candidate for a centre position.

Engvall wasn't even a very good centre in the AHL when he played there.

He will be used accordingly. A bottom forward roster player and a decent PK'er who will find himself rotating in and out of the lineup.

You are most likely correct. I just used AZ as a template for a potential trade that may end up being just for picks or lower end prospects when all is said and done.

Valid points.
I am going to choose to believe in the man.

He is for sure nothing more than a bottom 6 guy.
