If you wanna give Andersson that much you should offersheet him. Columbus won't match.

Also I'm pretty sure 1 year of Cole doesnt cost that much.

Columbus doesn’t want Lehkonen. We don’t need or want wings. If you want Anderson, offersheet him.

I mean they'd be foolish to turn that offer down because it's more than what they'd get from an offersheet.

I'd rather pick 40 this year than pick 40-50 next year. Plus you get a 3ed and a winger you can flip for a low pick.

Ok. It's was just by diplomacy. We don't want Torto screaming all over the media wink

Lehkonen doesn't actually add anything notable to this squad, so whether or not it's "more" is kind of questionable. And it's more valuable to us to at least attempt to repair the relationship with Andy and get him signed, so better to at least try rather than trade him before offer sheets come in.

I mean look at how much this guy is paying him on the contract. I would never pay him that much after this season. I'd need at least 1 rebound season.

I dont understand how this being more is questionable. Even if you count Lehkonen as 0 you get a 2020 2nd and 2021 3rd instead of a 2021 2nd (a weaker draft year).

Because there's value in getting that extra chance to try to keep him. Taking this deal means you're giving up that chance. I don't think that's enough of an improvement to be worth waving the white flag on Andy-as-a-Blue Jacket.

Kulak is about the same defensively as Cole except that he's a far better puck mover. So I don't see why we should trade Kulak for Cole. Plus Cole is also more expensive. Makes no sense.

Lehtonen is underestimate in most fanbase. But I honestly think that every nhl staff would take the guy in their top 12

I'm not saying he's bad; I'm saying we've got a lot of very similar wingers on the Jackets roster already. And I don't believe in "flip him for what you REALLY want" scenarios, as that's how one gets ripped off.

Columbus would probably be very interested in Domi.

Maybe Domi for Anderson and a 1st.

Werent you saying a couple months ago you'd trade him for a 3rd round pick?

Maybe a Domi/Kulak for Anderson/Savard? But I hate to be the one who give the better player..

why resign Mete to have him ride the pine?
Makes no sense.
I like the Cole trade but I think instead of Kulak you would probably have to give up Mete, with a 3rd coming back to MTL along with Cole.
Kulak can then ride the pine

You said yourself that "Cole is far better D than Kulak." So why exactly would a contender trade Cole just to pick up a mid-round pick? Makes no sense.
