MTL decline, nice try tho
Why is Armia on the 4th line ? Trying to decrease is value ? He’s a middle six winger, 2nd or 3rd line, not 4th

Nah i just thought that would be a sick trio and id want Armia for his defensive play anyway, Okposo had really good 5v5 numbers so putting him with Cozens makes sense to see if they can get some more production out of him again and make a pretty deep team

I don't think the penguins have the cap so sign Montour.
They have settled on their top 2 RD being Letang and Marino. Montour at 3RD is a cap luxury they simply don't have.

I hate giving up pick8...
but FINALLY a legitimately good idea at 2C from you

I’d like to use some of that extra Cap space u have available to strengthen another spot in the lineup though...
Specifically RW3 or on defense

Pretty good job overall though

So why is Detroit retaining salary AND giving up a pick AND taking a cap dump? Johansson looks decent, sure, but goalie prospects are risky, and Detroit could get far better value for taking on cap from another team.
The two Johansson's for Pickard would probably be fine for Detroit, Buffalo may need to add a mid round pick, 3rd or similar.

Buffalo declines. At 8 you can draft one of Perfetti, Rossi, Holtz, Raymond, Sanderson or Lundel. Domi is not worth one of those players.

Armia is 10X better than Okposo, move Olofsson on the 2LW, bring Armia on the 2RW and Kahun on the 3LW

Nah, some deals are not needed, some are not bad. Armia is not a player fourth-line, it will look better in the top 9.

I don't see why Boston does that deal. Miller has a higher hit than Moore.

well, first marcus johansson isn't a cap dump, also, why would buffalo trade 2 players for pickard, who played 3 NHL games and had a goals against average over 5,00?

Understandable, if we didn't manage to leverage most of our cap hit I would be intruiged, but I'm very much in favour of taking on 3-4 bad contracts in exchange for picks and prospects, adding Johansson too might be a bit too tight.

Unless the bruins have a trading partner for Miller before this trade is made, they dont do it.
Why would we take on a higher cap for the same situation (a 3LHD that wont play because there is no space for him on the team)

Johansson was in the AHL allstar game and already made his NHL debut. The Sabres dont have time to develop him with UPL needing starter minutes, but Detroit has plenty of time

Yes he is Perfetti Rossi and Raymond are gone before 8, Holtz game is too one sided, Sabres have no use for Sanderson and Lundell is a reach, rather draft Quinn, but at that point id rather have Domi

His takes on DET are awful. He acts like it's a crime for DET to not be involved in a lopsided deal.
I don't think he has come to terms with the fact that DET has to give something to get decent youth.
In all honesty, looking at that trade.
Helm is the biggest cap dump there.
DET gets the two better players. One possibly a need player as Howard looks cooked.
And they only give up a 3rd.
What are they giving up. A cap dump an ECHL level goalie who played 2 games last year. That doesn't get you anything in return at all. You have to give something up to get something.

It seems we've come to somewhat of a consensus, Domi+(something smallish) for the 1st rounder is workable. Adding Armia IMO is a tough pill to swallow though. Besides the fact that I don't value Pilut as highly as others do, I truly feel Armia could follow the route of Coleman, Goodrow, Kase, etc in getting a team to send a late 1st for him. Possibly throwing in a later pick and adding some highly cap coming back to accommodate)

I think if you want a defensively responsible player for the 4th line, I'd be more willing to let Lehkonen go as he is better suited there but I'd want something else than Pilut personally as the Habs have too many LHD as is. Tage Thompson seems more appropriate considering Buffalo's running out of place to give him a spot and you can only play him in the AHL for so long. Could be someone else though. A RHD prospect maybe?

Do you think Bergevin would trade Lehky ? Honestly I think only a late 1st could do it. Bergevin loves Lehky and the coaches, he’s 25 yo can play LW RW on the PP and PK. You don’t trade those guys

I'd trade anyone if it makes us better. Lehkonen is not worth a late 1st I don't think but if he is than by all means do that instead.

MB loved Shaw too but traded him for picks. If we're going to get sentimental about bottom 6 guys, we're never going to get better.

Lehkonen have still the potential to be a 20+ goals scorer, just need to focus on is finish. Shaw was injuy bad, making 3.9M and Bergevin thought Carolina won’t match is offersheet. Anyway I wouldn’t trade him for 2 2nd rd picks

When is Lehkonen gonna get that chance to be a 20+ goal scorer exactly? Next to Danault on the 1st line? Maybe next to Suzuki/Domi on the 2nd line? Maybe on the 3rd line next to KK? Surely on the 4th line next to Thompson/Weal type players?

Lehkonen will never be a top 6 in Montreal. He'll only score 20+ if he is a top 6. He won't get PP, he won't get prime minutes next to quality linemates. Yeah I love Lehky too but its not in the cards for him. He has had so many chances to play top mins with injuries and what not and never did anything with it.

Shaw also came off a 47 point season and was a CHaracter guy........ MB probably liked him more than Lehky. Anyways that's besides the point. MB will trade anyone if he has to. Lehky is far from untradeable.

He missed 20 open net, 30 posts, if we could see somewhere how many grade A chance he missed, it’s ridiculous. One day he will score those goal, and yes on the 3rd line. I know he won’t play top6, but one day on the 3rd line he’ll do 20 goals. I believe in him

20 open net misses, 30 posts, countless grade A chances hes missed is precisely why I'm not fazed by moving him. Many of those chances have come when he was replacing players on the top 6 and we lost games because he couldn't finish on those chances.

Good two way player but nothing more. 20-40 point guy at best and most times it'll be between 20-30. I'm not going to trade him for nothing but I'm not losing any sleep over trading him.
