This could be really fun

Description
Ottawa ends up with Byfield (SJS pick) Rossi (NJD) Lapierre (Van) Barron (NYI).
At the deadline Ottawa will move: Bozak, Anisimov, Smith, and Duclair.
Bozak getting top line duty and 1st PP will be looking like a perfect add and likely get us a 2nd.
Duclair, if lightning it up the way he did at the start of this season, maybe a 1st?
Smith and Anisimov both get what they get.
Tierney could also get traded depending on how Norris, Rossi, White, Brown and Paul are looking. Formenton comes up for Duclair's spot, or you could slide Connor Brown over to LW and bring up Nolan Foote who we'll be turning into a RW'er because I feel he and Tkachuk with Byfield in the middle could be UNSTOPPABLE.

Rangers decline. Drop Robertson and Lajoie and it makes sense.

No way I'd pay for Bozak. Either StL does 5 other things to make room for Pietrangelo, not re-sign him or give me something to take Bozak's whole cap...

I'm firmly against Lapierre in the 1st round as is, but if Ottawa is already taking Byfield AND Rossi, it would be insane to then reach on an injury prone C. In all honesty I don't really love going for Rossi if we're getting Byfield.

Eh? Bozak has quite a bit of value, although admittedly more to a team that's actually competing with the rest of the NHL. We're not paying you take him.

A 4th is a fair offer, even with the Blues cap crunch. He's a perfect fit in Ottawa and, as I posted in the team description, we will absolutely get a higher pick back at the trade deadline.

Moving a C to the wing requires nothing more than doing it. And at 7th, unless Drysdale or Sanderson are magically still available OR you prefer the right handed Jack Quinn, I'm sticking with Rossi. As for Lapierre, it's very hard to determine who might have slipped down to where VAN is picking - the VAN and NYI picks are just placeholders. Just read that Barron has been diagnosed with a blood clot. Not sure if that is a recent thing - I don't recall seeing it mentioned before...

No. We both know that Brendan Smith is a cap dump, OTT needs to be compensated for him. We'll take Smith and Robertson and send you the STL 2020 6th.

Skinner looked decent on a STACKED London team but the odds are still against him ever becoming a roster player in the NHL.

I guess the only arguement for all those C in the frist round is at least we'll never have to worry about cdenter depth or a 1C again for the rebuild. One of them is bound to pan out, Lapierre was a projected around 5OA until he got hurt this year could be a steal if he stays healthy

In fairness it could just as easily be Byfield, Holtz, Schneider and Guhle. This was more about the trades than the picks for me.

What OA are the NJD and VAN picks? Or do we not know yet? Seems like we are giving up a bit much but is Nolan Foote a good prospecT?

The NJD pick is #7. We don't know where the VAN pick is yet but all the draft boards seem to have it ahead of the NYI pick. I think Nolan Foote is going to be very good. Very hard and accurate shooter. Big body and plays physical; 19 y/o and already 6'4 and 200 lbs. They say his skating needs work but he's truly no worse than Tkachuk and probably has a better stride so it shouldn't be hard to speed him up a bit. The idea of a Tkachuk-Byfield-Foote line blows my mind. A team getting caught with their 2nd or 3rd defensive pairing on the ice would be in serious trouble protecting their net.

Alright so its only a trade down of two spots so not bad. Having four first round picks would be crazy, pair some seconds with the NYI and VAn 1sts and move them both up into top 15. Could end up with 3, 7, and two between 10-15. Byfield/Holtz, Perfetti, Sanderson, Holtz would be a crazy haul

Right? And assuming none of them get used this coming season in Ottawa we'd still be likely to have a decent pick in 2021. Our rebuild would essentially be done.
