Not to mention that you would need 4 1st round picks and you don't have yours this year so that offer sheet is impossible. I don't think Joe Thornton will sign for that little since he wants a cup and SJS isn't a cup contender anymore. Also, what is that Red wings trade! We give up a decent goalie prospect and a 7th to take on Jones' now terrible contract for only a 2nd! Try a 1st Round + more. Also, I think Lehner get easily above 6 million.

The price SJ would have to pay in a flat cap world for MTL to take Vlasic would be unheard of. I'm talking the most expensive cap dump ever, would literally be close to the same amount of picks as that offer sheet would take for Barzal, just to get rid of Vlasic

I love seeing posts where people dump cap for so little or ask for something in return to take on bad contracts.

Habs and Wings both pass.

There are so many issues with this. Moving on from the fact that every team declines the trade. Barzal has a 11.9mil cap hit on the offer sheet, but is only counted for 8.5mil on the cap. and STILL San Jose is over the cap.

DET declines. Jones contract is terrible and a 2nd isn’t enough to compensate us even if he has a bounce back year

laugh laugh Detroit passes not giving up Larsson for an aging overpaid Martin, And Lou easily matches that offer sheet on Barzal Robin Lehner will get 5x7 no way he's signing that cheaply he wants both term and money. And DeMelo gets at least 4x3.5m way underpaying him there.

Couple of things…

First of all love the fact that SJ are signing Barzal from the Islanders for no compensation. I guess the 2 1st rounders and the 2nd rounder and the 3rd rounder don't matter. Second of all, giving Barzal 8.5 Million dollars to play on a second line is very smart considering he's making more than your first line center. Finally, love the fact that the salary cap doesn't apply to SJ.
