I think some Red Wings fans will want more but this would probably be the minimum cost. Would this make sense for the Islanders?

Value is fair but I could see them just trading Leddy, Bailey and Komarov before doing this.

What do you think Komarov will cost the Islanders to move?

2022 is very far away, so I’d like to see some lottery and top 10 pick protection, but if those were included, I would do it

Could attach him to a Leddy deal but it will sour his value and likely minimize the return but they would save $8.5M for em.

Would isles fans trade bellows and a Wilde or a 2nd for us to take komarov and boychuck instead of a first?

With 2x3 left, Would imagine at least a 3rd rounder would need to be included as well. Possibly for a 5th rounder would be my guess.

I think what would be better for both teams is for the Islanders to give the Red Wings less (Boychuk, Bellows/Wilde, 3rd or something similar) for someone like Helm or Glendening. We still need NHL depth, and I'd rather give up less and receive less value than move Boychuk and strong assets for nothing.

Maybe, but still seems like a lot. If you change Boychuk to Ladd I'd say yes.

I'd agree with that. He's not bad enough to get a 2nd to go with him but would probably take a bit more than a 3rd.

Not sure if this is what you're implying but Glendening definitely has positive trade value. Helm might have negative at the moment but we could probably hold on to him until the TDL and trade him for a pick if we retained half his salary.

I thought Glendening was looked upon more negatively. If I'm wrong, my fault.

I do think something around Ladd, Bellows, and a 3rd for Helm is fair. The Red Wings take on a salary dump, but get a goal-scoring forward prospect, and a pick for a player on an expensive but expiring contract.

Wouldn’t touch Ladd unless a massive return comes back with him. Bellows doesn’t start the conversation in the slightest. Helm and Glendening are both great defensive bottom 6 guys that we could retain half at TDL and get a mid round pick or better.

Glendening is a cost friendly 4C who plays good defence and kills penalties. Even if he was completely useless, his salary his is less than 2 mil so still wouldn't really have negative value.

Helm is a similar player to Glendening but costs a lot more. With his full salary, he might have negative value but if the Wings were to retain 50% at the TDL, he would have a cap hit of under 2 mil so it wouldn't make sense to dump him now.

For the trade you offered, that wouldn't be enough value. I'm not going to pretend I'm an expert on Bellows but I'll assume he's worth a late 1st or 2nd. Ladd's contract is going to cost a lot to dump because of the term. I don't really see the Wings taking on contracts longer than 2 years unless we're heavily compensated. The value of a 2nd + 3rd really comes no where close to dumping Ladd's contract.

imo that is the value of the pick. (Not that GM's will think like this) Wings fans want a shot at Shane Wright, so more picks = better lottery odds (yes im aware 16 teams will make the playoffs, by then 16 will miss it so any pick obtained now has a good chance.)
Instead of lottery protection I would drop the 2022 1st, and either make it 2021, no protection. Or prospect(s) and say, a 3rd in whichever year our scouts think is the deepest draft.
