Why sign DeMelo when you have so many solid young RHD already? Seems like you could use a LHD if anything.

More would have to come back with Demko for Vancouver. A LD like Dillon or Edmundsson would be preferred over DeMelo.

He's an incredibly good player who's been undervalued his entire career. There's no LHD in the UFA class that will get you the value for money he will.

It's also not like the Wings can't find room for a right hander, the only long term RHD in the system are Hronek, Seider and Lindstrom. If each one of them becomes a regular by 21/22 then one of them can just move to the left side. Either that or find a trade for one of them. There's also an immediate spot for Demelo in the top 4.

He was interviewed the other day and he sounded like he was very interested in signing with the Jets, time will tell if he was serious or not.
