Pardon? We send a more valuable player and eat half his wages?

I don't think a low-end 1st and two overpaid depth forwards gets you Wilson

Tom Wilson is a hard player to replace...have to think that WSH management (and the team) feel pretty strongly that he's immensely valuable to have on the roster and that he was a huge impact player that helped them win a Cup.

You're sending a pretty strong package to WSH here, but it's going to have to be a silly over-pay for WSH to make sense of trading him.

Wilson for Kapanen, Johnsson, 1st

I am personally all over this.

However... Wilson's value to the Caps has very little to do with his on-ice abilities. The... questionably educated Caps fan base LOVES Wilson. He is so close behind Ovechkin that he can tell you how much change is in his pocket.

There is 0 evidence that Copp is the more valuable/better player than Kerfoot, there is actual evidence that suggests Kerfoot is a better and more productive player than Copp

Came in here expecting to see news about Colin Wilson being traded (and thereby confirmed to be alive). Bitterly disappointed to see a proposal involving Tom instead.

I could see the Jets making this swap but I doubt they retain any salary even if it's only $1.1M

I tend to agree, Copp is a decent player and versatile but he's a bit overrated by quite a few Jets fans.

Copp got 3 less points than kerfoot but plays a defensive game and kills penalties. I would rather 25 points than 28(or whatever it was) and have a great PK center

and the leafs have a surplus of wingers right now. Which is kinda the point of trading them for stuff they need. So after this trade they now need another C on top of everything else

I tend to look at players entire career and not a single season with a new team with a coaching change and no defined role , but you do you bud
