Description
If Calgary gets knocked out in the play in, you gotta wonder if they might start making some big moves. This would free up cap space for them to re sign some of their blue line. Gaudreau would be the perfect winger to fill out the sharks Top 6, and bringing in Kapanen and Lemeuix just to add some more youth to the team could fill out a solid roster for the future without a rebuild.

Nice prospect and in an area of need (RHD), nice forward too, also an area of need and a 1st round pick.

All decent pieces but I'm not sure it's high end enough, especially to trade him in division.

Leafs decline. For the 100th time, were trading Johnsson and not Kapanen

Thats pretty good value for Johhny, but since its in division they say no and I also dont think we should dream of giving up Merkley

Flames 100% say no. Merkley is still a big question mark, tamps first will be late 20s and Labanc is a middle six player. Garbage trade

I was trying to think of the pieces you guys would be looking for and those ones added up, but out of curiosity what kind of package would you expect for him? He didn't have the best year so unless he lights up in the playoffs you gotta assume that hurts his value just a little

I can't see him traded in division unless it's by far the best offer. In my opinion, if the Flames do trade Gaudreau for futures they really need to make sure they get a potential future 1C prospect as part of the package.

Thats really interesting, I was looking at it in a different way where I would think the blue line is where you would want the top prospects since most of Calgarys D men are about to be UFAs? Thats why I saw Merkley as great piece, but if a 1C prospect is what Calgary is looking for then the Sharks certainly don't have a return lol I just figured Monahan was the center of the future?

Monahan is the center of the future and now, but we need another one because Backlund is 31, and Ryan is 34 and those are our top 3 Cs. Not exactly cup caliber. Bennett flaming out into a bottom six winger really hurt our rebuild.

Ya I could definitely see the case for needing a 2C or even a 3C in the next few years so that makes sense. Best the Sharks would be able to offer in that category would be Chmelevski, a 21 year old center who had impressive numbers in World Juniors. It wouldn't fill the 1C dream but throwing him in as well mighttt be as good of an offer as the Flames would get in this current market without taking on any cap

Value is good, but I don't really like the idea of the trade from a Sharks perspective. It's a lot for us to give up, and while the value is certainly fair, I'm not very high on Gaudreau.

If you trade Lebanc, who are our top 2 RW on the top 2 Lines?

If you could guarantee me Merkley turns out to be as good as he does in EA NHL20 I'd take the deal and run smile
Guy turns into a 80+ point defenseman consistently, in 1 seasons he had won the norris 7 years in a row!!

Hahaha I mean that’s a tough promise to make, but his current numbers in the minors certainly should count for something. If he keeps developing at this rate the sky is the limit, we just don’t have much of a need for a RD at the moment. I think he’s a really good piece for Calgary here

well I mean if we're trading Labanc then there's a good chance we're rebuilding. If not, there's many UFA options like Dadanov and Toffoli. They might be too expensive so we could also trade for players like Killorn, Anderson, Johnson, and Bozak.

I’m fine with trading Labanc in a situation like this where we get a winger like Gaudreau back, I don’t see that as rebuilding but if we just trade him for picks it would be a different story. That would just set us back even further, and I don’t think the sharks have any interest in that

I know but I was responding to an Ottawa fan who offered the Islander's 2020 1st for Labanc

Only way I’d take that trade is if we could then flip that 1st and other pieces in a trade like this to bring in a real top 6 winger. Otherwise trading Labanc for a pick just creates holes

I know but as I just said if we traded Labanc for picks it would likely be because we're rebuilding
