Vrana is on a great deal. I just went with Carlson here because he's one of the best D-men in the league and 8 mil cap hit is a bargain. Term might be risky down the line though.
I would not say DeBrincat has a good contract. He has a $9m qualifying offer when it expires, and his AAV right now is pretty much standard for that kind of production. So his contract is fair (neither good nor bad) but has a brutal qualifying offer -- I would not call that a good contract.
So do you have an argument for why McDavid isn't on this list?
Even at $15M or whatever the maximum he could have signed for back when he extended, he's by a mile the best player in the league. He's value at $12.5M year in and year out. Draisatl's deal has only become valuable as of last season. You've never heard a word about McDavid being overpaid or not covering the bet.
