Edmundson is redundant with ferraro needing time, and holtz might make the day 1 team

lot to digest here

-San Jose declines Buffalo trade but it's close
-San Jose and Toronto both probably accept
-Tampa declines, Cirelli is probably worth a top 10 pick
-San Jose declines
-Ottawa probably declines, Jones' contract is just too long

as for the team

-massive underpay for Khudobin
-Merkley will likely spend a year in the AHL (at least)
-Holtz probably isn't NHL ready
-don't sign Edmundson, Ferraro is definitely a capable defenseman

how? Buffalo fans agree with the Hertl for their 2020 1st (most of them) and Meier has more value than Hertl.

You'd think hertl has more value, being a center and all

yes I agree centers have slightly more value but Meier has a few things going for him

Meier averaged only .05 points less than Hertl and is also 3 years younger. He's also on a great contract for 3 more seasons and expires as an RFA.

With a QO of 10 mil and hertl is cheaper and only has 1 less year left

I think it might be less though with the new CBA

yes only 1 year less but expiring as an RFA and a UFA is a big difference

I guess but hertl being a center and just a better player might be of more value to buffalo

maybe idk but i think you're overvaluing being a center compared to a wing

- as stated in the team explanation:
+ it
Is only for fun.. but I will share my take on it

- Khudobin: agree, massive underpay but he is old and you never know :-)
- Ferraro: I know he is good but has never been a personal favorite of mine... sorry to say
- Holtz is not 100% ready but should be in NHL for a few games and will then score big numbers in AHL
- Buffalo trade I think fills what everyone needs so i think it is possible
- Tampa: they are under pressure regarding Cap but he will of course being a lot of interest. They get a first + Lebanc which I think can blossom in Tampa
- I hate Jones contract.... every time I look at this roster goaltending is the issue :-)

how do you not like Ferraro? Great work ethic and energy.
Buffalo trade is possible i guess, but I don't like it for us
A lot of Tampa and Buffalo trades have been Cirelli for Buffalo's 2020 1st, this is definitely a worse package
Yes I know, I think we give him a few games at the start of next season, and if he's performing sub .900 then we just buy him out

1. Sabres decline. If you were to make it Hertl for the #8 I'd say it's close to a deal (similar to Schnieder for the #9 before) - main reason being Buffalo needs a top 6 centre. Not a winger

2. Leafs straight up decline. You can debate value all you want, but they'll look for a cheap NHL ready younger player for whoever they move. Prospects and picks don't help their situation.

3. Tampa probably declines as well. Value is an slight overpayment but it doesn't help them again. They need d-man, not forwards. Likely would cost Merkley to get him if it was buy a trade. Which I highly doubt Wilson considers.

4. Rangers likely accept but some concerns come up with that deal. First being it's a massive overpayment for Georgiev. He's not worth more than what Bernier went to Toronto for (2nd round pick, filler goalie, and mediocre prospect). Backups with limited playing time don't get much value. Also, the Rangers were said to be looking for a "young roster forward" for Georgiev. The 1st might be intriguing but I think they have enough good young prospects, they want to start competing soon. Kevin Labanc or Dylan Gambrell could be a good starting point for both sides.

5. That's likely the cost to move Jones' deal. Just not sure Ottawa is the team. They've got a few good young goalies and Nilsson was better than Jones last season when he was given a chance to start more. The list of teams willing to take Jones will be low, might be easier to just buy him out if they're that ready to move on from him.

Id take that in a heart beat, I think Sabres fans are just programmed to automatically say no after all these complete trash Eichel trades

Big no from buffalo. And most sane buffalo fans wouldn't give 8th for a guy who can't stay healthy and typically puts up 40 points, with one big exception.

Hertl big time injury, big time overrated.

I like Meier more than Hertl at this point because of injury history and contract. Hertl is too much of a risk to give up such a valued asset.

BUF's biggest need is a 2C, not more wingers. They already have Skinner, Olofsson, and Reinhart in their top 6 forward group. Meier would definitely be a nice addition, but I can see why some BUF fans would be more excited to add a legit 2C with that pick as opposed to another winger. They could also wait for Cozens and the 8th OA to develop (1-3 years for both to make the NHL probably) and roll Skinner - Eichel - Reinhart // Olofsson - Cozens -- 8th OA ---- So I can see why Meier for 8th OA isn't especially exciting for some BUF fans. Personally, I think it is a fair offer.
