If you retain on Marner. For what Marner is paid, he should be able to take over a important game on his own like Panarin, Crosby, Kane, not blanking in a playoff game....Marner is really good with upside but he's got a huge cap hit, so a team acquiring him need to believe he can take the team on his shoulders and take over a game.

Hes overpaid by like 1-1.5M and put up 94 points then was on pace for 93, hes a gamebreaking player. Id suggest not evaluating a player based on 1 game of the qualifiers after a 4 month break

Last post season, 7 games 4 points 2 goals (4 of those games 0 points)

Again, if a team is going to take on that cap hit, then the player must be able to put the team on his back in big games which Marner hasn't done or at least has not consistently done

No thanks from Nashville. Would want more than Marner if you want Ellis, and Tomasino, and a 2nd/1st. Ellis is very good and he is on a very good contract for several years. In my opinion Marner is overpayed by a bit. Tomasino is a very good forward prospect that could turn into a 1st or 2nd line forward for Nashville. I would probably honestly want more. It’s close I would want just a little more.

Marner for Ellis straight up is fair, adding Tomosino makes the trade a bit lopsided in Toronto’s favor.

Ellis is an elite two way #1 D and is worth 10-10.5 mill right now. He probably has at least another 4 seasons of elite level play and his contract doesnt have any signing bonuses in the final years so it’s buyout friendly if it comes to that. He’s worth more than marner right now, but I can see NSH considering a 1 for 1 swap.

Easy no from Calgary they wouldn’t even do Pelletier for Kapanen and a second. Flames aren’t trading their best forward prospect for Kapanen. That’s a garbage trade

9 points in 7 games the year before, was matched up against the Bruins 1st line last year in the playoffs and they cancelled each other out, both werent great offensively. 17 points in 20 playoff games at the age of 21 (last year) isnt good I guess?

I'd do it. The Flames need a top six RW with speed and a right shot a lot more than they need a diminutive LW prospect.

You mean 2 years ago. Last year he had 4 points in 7 games. This year 0 points in 1 game. For $11M cap hit, everyone should expect ppg in the playoffs during his career...the best do that against the best.

Plays 1 game after a 4 month break and doesn't get a point so hes not good anymore? Matthews, Tavares, Malkin, Pettersson, Boeser, Wheeler, Tkachuk, etc. also aren't worth the money they're paid (or will be paid) cause they had 0 points in their first playoff game this year.

Also, you mentioned Kane whos pretty much signed at the same number as Marner but signed awhile ago so it was a higher percentage of the cap. Funny that hes not even a PPG player in the playoffs.

Panarin is also not a PPG in the playoffs

No, this includes last year's playoff....clearly my response says that. Over the last 8 playoff games, Marner has a all of 4 points, that's .50ppg....great work for a $11M cap hit! Then you go on to name a bunch of players and more then 1/2 of them you named aren't carrying a $11M cap hit.

Kane has 126 points in 129 games; that's .98ppg. He also has 3 rings and a ton of hardware...he can carry the team on his back clearly as he's shown throughout his career, Marner can't in big games as he's shown so far.

Just stop, you're trying too hard
