The best player headed to Toronto is probably the yet to be selected player at 8oa. Montour is nice, Risto is a disaster, and Mittelstadt is going to be a bust

Risto is hard to judge. Mittelstadt probably will be a bust based on the lofty expectations, but that doesn’t mean he can’t be a useful player. 8th overall picks are hard to trade for, and a bunch of junk won’t get you one.

Risto is very very easy to judge. he's exactly the worst defensemen in the league ratio to money earned. It's not remotely close. And the leafs are giving up every forward left on their roster that they can afford. For less roster players, costing more money. The 1st is the best piece obviously, followed by Kapanen, then Kerfoot, then Montour then Johnsson then nothing. This bankrupts the Leafs, they cannot sign replacement players for the forwards and now their solved problem of letting their **** defensemen walk is cancelled out by Risto, AT 5+ MILLION.
