I would be into the Ducks trade if it were a 2020 pick. Don't care if it's late.

2021 is setting itself up to be a major crapshoot after you get through the first 5 or so players. With Covid, there's a pretty good chance there's not a lot of hockey played next year, which means there's going to be a lot of players who don't get the time to develop properly. A 2021 pick is far too terrifying to accept.

2020 1st does seem fair.

Rangers decline, that's an overpay for Zadorov and they don't have cap space for his raise

Brodin is a nice idea in theory, but that contract with a NMC would be a problem in 2023 when Byram is playing top pair minutes and needs to be resigned.

MIN probably decline (Kamenev has little to no value at this point). Giving Brodin a NMC causes an issue on the back end for expansion draft (Johnson NMC, Girard and Makar )

It would be interesting to see how they’d handle next year with a flat cap.

I was going to say accepted before reading your comment. Brings up a very very good point. I think I would avoid getting a (more than likely) late 2021 first as of now. 2020 first seems more than fair though

I think what will end up being a similar situation to Boston.
McAvoy and Krug don't play together, despite being the clear two best guys.

Byram is not the right partner for Makar imo, Makar needs a defensively strong partner... byram is too defensively weak, at least now.

Byram was Canada's main shutdown Dman at the WJC's despite being the youngest Dman on the team. He'll be fine defensively.

Hopefully. Here's where I mention that I live 10 minutes away from where the Giants play, and am a regular in their audience... Byram is one of the giants worst defensive guys on the back end - Absolutely phenomenal offensively, however very commonly out of position in his own zone. I'm weary of his transition, and he will need some massive tune up in his own end upon making the team.

Still, I feel like Brodin is the right guy for Makar. Of course this might put Girard in a weird position down the line, however the strength of this blue line would be incredible.

Byram often finds himself on the right side on Vancouver, I could see something like this in 2 years

Brodin - Makar
Girard - Byram
XYZ prospect - Johnson
