Description
I’m basing this team off is not getting Lafreniere. If that does not happen then we are 100% done for and major changes need to happen. I also made this team for 2021-2022 because I know these major changes won’t be coming by this December.

No, Avs decline

Why would they decline that? They are a legit cup contender and they’d be getting a future HOF player who’s won a Conn Smythe and 3 cups

bc they cant afford to take on Malkins cap hit in full,
they have a 2c in Kadri already that works well with their cap strucutre

and the goal is prolong cup contention, that is what Byram and Kaut do on their ELCs

Plus Malkin was god awful this playoffs, why would they trade one of the top prospects in the entire NHL for a 34 year old Player at 9.5m cap hit. Avs are not doing the penguins a favour by resetting their roster with high end youth talent

these are some weird trades. some are major losses by pitt (CAR and STL) while some are major wins (VAN and COL)

The goal is to rebuild this team for the future. I made trades with teams that will all be in a win now mode by 2022

This is one of the more realistic Murray trades I've seen on here. EDM would need to send cap back, but you have the space.

right but those aren't super promising futures for Letang. not to mention Hoglander is probably Vancouver's best prospect and they aren't trading him and a solid goalie prospect for a cap dump that worsens their cap problems

avs cap structure is set up beyond 2022...how you ask, oh you know they have high talent players on ELCs coming in such as Newhook, Bryram and Kaut. They arent closing their cup contending window faster by taking on 9.5m in cap hit (which they dont have room for this offseason and would have to gut their roster to make room for Malkin)

Bad logic on the Avs

Your price is nice, but we can't afford ZAR right now.

No thanks from Colorado. Malkin at 34 doesn't really fit the style of this team. For cap reasons it doesn't make sense either.

Gotta Agee with @coga16, as great as Malkin is at 34 and with his cap hit that doesn’t do it. Also there is a reason everybody is trying to do trades w/COL for Byram, it would have to be for an elite player in the league with youth and term on his contract for COL to include him in any trade.

Let's take the deepest blueline in hockey and give them Kris Letang!
