Forgot about him. I'd keep him down in the AHL unless he outplayed sandin for the Left spot on bottom pairing. Larsson is a solid player and on the third pairing provides great support to either sandin or lethenon. Larsson would be a 1 year get most likely with lilijgren ready for full time duties in 2021/2022

I don't see the islanders giving a 3rd and 6th for a guy they don't particularly need

Colorado says no, they do not want him for Byram. You'd have to pay more Byram would be the more valuable asset in the trade. He has 3 years left on ELC in an unsure Cap climate.

Really bad value for colorado.

How is Marner on 8.95 mil bad value for Colorado? If anything that is an underpayment
They get a 95 point winger with potential to reach 100 playing along side that top 6
We get back prospects and picks(take out the 1st or 2nd) who will not be as proven as Marner
Colorado is already set with offensive d for the future with girard and Makar, they don’t need byram and new hook is a potential 2c which will have to be given up if they are looking to get Marner but can be replaced in FA once Kadri is gone.
They get the better player now and probably for the future
We get the two prospects more fit for our team
Colorado top six
Burakovsky-Mackinnon-Rantanen
Landeskog-Kadri-Marner

This is actually probably a Marner return with retention but people think a 23 year old 94 point winger is a cap dump

Hes not a cap dump but Colorado has to pay landeskog, makar and mackinnon over the next 3 years, they will need stars on ELCs and that's what byram and newhooks ceilings are.

Would you trade a 1st, 2nd, sandin and robertson for rantanen?

Marner with retention would get a return of byram and a 2nd. If Colorado is trading newhook, byram and a 1st, Matthews better be a part of the return

take one of byram or newhook out of the deal and toronto retains $2m more and it's fair.

COL doesn’t need Marner.
COL doesn’t want to give up the NHLs 1-2 best D prospect not in the league.
COL doesn’t want to give up their best F prospect and future 2C Kadri replacement.
Then you ask for a 1st and 2nd on top of that lol.

Lots of brain dead “mArNeR sCoReS 90+ pOiNtS” well tell me, how much closer did that bring TOR to winning a cup?? Having players who score the most points isn’t the key to winning, hence look at EDM. McDavid and Drai were 1-2 in points, can’t beat 12 seed CHI.

Depth wins cups and the more 8+ mill players you’ve got on your team, the thinner your 3rd / 4th lines get

Didnt say Colorado would do the deal, settle down, just said the return would look something like this, its not bad value for a former 4th overall pick who is one of the best playmakers in the league

Nah I'm aware, a solid 2nd line C likely and essentially a guarenteed top 4 dman with really good upside. You just don't know how good the player they're trading the prospects for is I guess

he's on the same level as rantanen. just 2m more expensive. you're asking for far too much.

Its literally a retained contract but okay, Marner for under 9M through his prime is bad for a team I guess
