1st off. Beadin is not projected as a top 4 defenseman.
2nd, Deabrook is a shell of himself from 3 years ago. He was a great leader and top team pairing defensemen. Now he is probably not a top 5or 6 defenseman in the league. That is due to injury and age. As a Wings fan when the Wimgs had the Hawks down in the Cup playoffs and the got in Toews head, it was Seabrook who calmed him down and lead the team from 3 -1 game deficit to win the cup.
All that being said, no team and I mean NO team is taking on that anchor of a contract which has 4 years left at 6.88 million for some leadership. It would take multiple picks and prospects to get a team to even think about taking on a contract that in essence eats up 8.5 % of their cap in one player who is not even the one of the top player on the team. It will only so problems and for a rebuilding team of young players that could be a problem
Wings would rather sign a less costly and short Free Agent deal with the cap dollars we have.
I appreciate your response and what you believe to be a good deal, but in the flat cap era and the rebuilding of the Wings it makes zero sense to do this deal as proposed.
