Description
I just read the WPG trade on one of the miscellaneous unreliable trade rumor sites and thought it was fun.
then I just sent a random trade with murray and Hornqvist as a cap dump to get younger in Fabbri i know he had a good season but doesnt really project all that high.

So the Jets add 4M in cap space that they don't have?

Detroit passes, not giving up fabbri and a pick for rebound machine Murray and that awful contract for horn. Pens add a lot here or not even close

I'll just reiterate, i read the trade idea on an unreliable trade rumor site. Not saying that was the final trade but the basis.

The problem with trades on this site is that every fan base overvalues their own players. Pit does it with Murray and Bjug, Det (myself included) does it with Larkin and LGD, Tor with everybody to include the equipment manager, and so on. Murray is worth about a late 2nd from a non rebuilding team, Bjug maybe a late 3rd or 4th.

Very much agree, isn't Detroit going to have the first pick of the 3rd round? And Fabbri did well there, they're not just passing him along for Murray and Hornqvist who's essentially a cap dump at this point.

Didnt think Fabbri was that "valuable" i was just looking at the lazy mans points total for grabbing a warm body. I knew he had a bad injury history and assumed he didnt have a lot of stock. it was meant as a filler bottom 6 guy.

Even with the warm body, still not taking this deal, not taking multi years of horn and a goalie whose not that great for a pick and a player. Pitt has to add even taking fabbri/pick out.

That must be a pretty unreliable site, if they think anyone is going to trade one smaller, shorter cap dump for two longer more expensive cap dumps.

Hornqvist has 3yrs left at $5.3M per I'm sorry but Murray's value barely covers Hornqvist's contract and it definitely does not get you a positive return.

I'm not a huge Murray guy but i like hornqvist I just dont think getting an older more expensive guy is really the direction we're headed in. Now if you took out horn and put in McCann then I think maybe id think about it.

Fabbri's projection is challenging. He has flashes of high level skill, and had a great season considering his linemates on Detroit were largely not Larkin, Bertuzzi or Mantha. i.e. he wasn't working with much. He thinks the game well, but doesn't skate that well, and couldn't really find a fit in St Louis. If he has found a fit in Detroit he could comfortably be a career 20-20 guy. Granted for this site that isn't super sexy, but having secondary scoring is huge, just look at the struggles of teams who don't have that.
Hornqvist's numbers are similar, with more talented linemates (I'm not going to dive into how much more talented, because I don't know how much time he spent with Crosby or Malkin vs the 3rd line, but whoever his linemates, they were better than Fabbris.) Hornqvist will be paid more than Fabbri next season, and is signed for a long time. Hornqvist is also 9 years older. He's debatably not a cap dump, but to Detroit that's what he is, we're not acquiring Hornqvist to improve the roster here. Murray is fine, but realistically the 3rd (which is the 1st of the round) all but covers Murray.
That leaves us with Fabbri for Hornqvist. 1. that is easily a pass. 2. Why trade for the guy and have him as the 13th forward rather than on the 2nd/3rd line?
