I think the Toronto and Montreal trades work well, but the Ottawa one doesn't. J Johnson ins't an NHL player anymore and he's on a real bad contract. Almost as bad as Alzner in Laval. So Ottawa would have to take some prospect/pick to compensate

No way, JJ isn't much worse than Zaitsev (neither are NHL calibre d men, especially on contending teams) and Zaitsev makes over a mil more for an extra year (and i have no interest in giving up ZAR in that TOR deal, but Murray for Kerfoot and McCann for Johnsson seems somewhat fair to me)

i think its fair bc both are bottom pairing D men... Z has slightly better value but his contract is longer and higher....

toronto is arguably giving up the 2 best players in the trade.... ZAR is good but no need to glorify his value... ZAR would be the player that tips the scale forthis being considered okay to fair. Also i think Z is the better player and would do really well in the Pittsburgh system. Everyone know JJ is a bad fit. Sens are happy they save cap Pittsburgh is happy they get a serviceable defenseman

I will glorify ZAR's value till the end of time (aka until next season starts and he falls off a cliff bc defensive repeatability is very low) and nothing will stop me from doing so

lol Corsi king but i like the move for both teams... this makes the penguins a dangerous team for the remainder of the window.. they get a 3c which they are in need of Leafs fill 3 positions and save some cap... if they can trade FA they can also get some soild assets

Z buyout price also isnt that bad

    Zaitsev for Johnson

Zaitsev is not actually better than Johnson and has a worse contract in cap ($1.25M per), term (1 more year), and actual salary ($14M vs $8.25M). This would be a HORRIBLE trade for Pittsburgh.

idk call me optimistic but i feel like the penguins system fits his playing style. we could easily eliminate this trade but i think hes a solid puck moving defenseman or maybe im just thinking bout him 4 years ago lol

if he doesnt workout his buyout is 1.6m not terrible

JJ has been so bad lately, honestly it's hard for me to imagine Zaitsev is worse or at par but ok, I haven't seen a lot of Ottawa games this year.

That buyout is horrible. If you are even thinking of it buy out Johnson, less cap for two less years

"worse" no... but a 40% increase in cap hit, one more year, and 70% ($5.75M) increase in actual salary.

If you want to get out of a bad contract you don't get into a worse one to do it.

No thank you at all on the Domi trade. Getting rid of number 15 overall AND Poulin when this team needs to start stocking up the pipeline? That is a massive Yikes from me.

what are you stocking up the pipeline for? to be average at best.... you have 2 ? good prospects and a 3 year window to win cups.... keeping what you have doesnt make the situation any better.... you literally gave this up for Zucker.. Domi is better

Would rather just bury Johnson than waste even more cap for longer

Poulin isnt NHL ready and nobody forcasts him to be for at least another full season in the minors. POJ is probably ready for next season. The fact that this team needs Center help as it is currently constructed means we shouldnt be shipping out one of our top 6 forwards who meshed incredibly well with Sid. Pipeline is needed to be stocked so when the team next goes tanking we can have a cast ready to come along and have a young team ready to go.
