Obviously you can ask for anything you like, but there should be some basis for it...

I could offer a 7th rounder for Kucherov but you know just as well how ridiculous that sounds. And imo 8th overall pick and a first from a year ago for a player with Mantha's statistics and a bad contract cap dump seems a tad heavy price.

But since @BStinson actually provided me a decent explanation I'm not whining about the issue any more. I'd recommend that for you as well.

Was not whining about anything. Now did you notice the title it's "lets get absolutely insane" now that says to me that he is joking. I also know he has a good grasp of player value and knows Detroit would never let Mantha go that cheap and do you really think Buffalo would give up that much for Mantha? They wouldn't and I know that. Then if you take a look my 2nd post I basically said I'm joking as well. Pretty sure everyone was joking around here until you came in and made a comment after reading one post. Now I suggest you read all the posts before commenting the your comment won't be so off base.

Didn't say you were whining about a thing. I asked you a question and your answer was...well it wasn't an answer. Someone actually managed to make a decent answer to it.

Exactly how my comment is so off base though?

Now everyone here was joking around until you came in whining about Mantha not being worth that much. Before you go getting all mad you admitted you were whining about it in the same line above.

I was talking about myself. "I'm not whining about the issue anymore."

As for that "I'd recommend that for you as well." part I meant that maybe if you had given me a coherent answer from the get-go this discussion would've been over much more quick.

Right now though, the Jets need centers more than defenseman and Risto is too expensive for a bottom pairing guy anyways.

Oh don't be silly he's still a top four RHD he would fill a hole and add some size. If you resigned Demelo could move Pionk for a center. Who could use a RHD putting up 45-50 points for 3 mill a year. Few I can think or

The Jets should absolutely be protecting Roslovic and Harkins over Copp.

I'd be down for this trade, Ristolainen is big and would be better on the PP then Pionk. I know the Jets need centers too but whatever, Copp bores me and he's no 2C so who cares.. Lol

trade for risto resign demelo and trade pionk for a center. He has a lot of value at 3 mill next season 45-50 point defensman on the plus side

Oh don't be silly. Ristolainen has never been a top 4 RHD. That's his whole problem. You give him that much ice time and he kills you with or defense and he's too expensive for a bottom pair guy. But then again, I know you are a big fan of acquiring deadweight.

You do know this is hypothetical, silly was meant as a laugh. Why so serious?

Sorry, I meant it as funny too. I think it's funny to use another posters words in response sometimes. Don't ask me why, but I do. Confused . You're right though, I get a little carried away with players I would not like to see in Winnipeg.

He's not my first choice either. That would be Pitrangelo

Has Risto ever had a partner like Morrissey though?

REEEALLY took away from some great FUN hockey talk. Thanks a lot. Please take that bs to a different part of the internet next time.
Seems like you guys are having fun with the defenseman hockey talk too!

For the record, I’m not “joking” about these Mantha trades hah... I think there is a basis for them making sense and a case to be made. I’m wondering if the thread starter was joking now.. but whatevs

Good point. Sometimes I think, maybe Huddy could turn him around. I guess I'd be willing to give him a try, as long as we don't pay too much. You and @MarkWinnipeg have changed my mind.

Mantha trades are suuuper touchy! Haha. I tried a Mantha to the Canes trade thread earlier. It eventually got shut down by a few ppl for cap reasons I think would’ve been worked out.. but IMO it still was a good trade for both teams. Check it out if interested.
Probably won’t be able to resist making a new one sometime soon.

Idk if he's the answer so to speak but he has two years left so not a long term commitment like a UFA probably would be, he's been pretty consistent in his point production and has size, every Sabres game I've watched him in he'd been fine but that's usually only a few times a year so not that much to be fair.

I'm not a fancy stat guy so whatever they say about Risto doesn't mean much to me and the last two dmen who left the Sabres seemed to do pretty well on their new teams so maybe the same thing might happen to Ristolainen, if the ask wasn't outrageous I'd be fine with the Jets taking a flyer on him but in reality I don't think he gets given away by the Sabres like he does on this website.. Lol

Tampa might having point and Johnson under contract and Cirelli an offer sheet risk even if they put him on a bridge deal pionk would come in cheaper and really only have Cernak as a top 4 RHD. Or maybe it's Johnson but I think the bolts would have to add for that to go down. Chicago maybe they were running Connor Murphy, Slater Koekkoek and Boqvist on the 3rd pairing. Pionk would come in cheaper than a strome bridge and he's another offer sheet risk. Pionk would be an upgrade to their top 4.

I really don't think Tampa let's Cirelli go or that he signs an offersheet, guys want to play there and Tampa always seem to figure out their cap issues one way or another.

Also I think offersheets are highly unlikely and especially this year with a flat cap, don't see GM's screwing over GM's with offersheets.

I'm skeptical if Johnson is a 2C anymore and he doesn't waive for Winnipeg anyway.

Maybe the Hawks would do that, in division trade though and they signed that Mitchell kid and he's really good so maybe they don't want to clog the right side of their defense, Pionk for Strome seems plausible though.

Maybe a big trade built around Pionk for Kuznetsov?!!.
Kuzy and old man Wheeler probably wouldn't get along though and the Jets would have to sign Kulikov so to have another Russian on the team... 😂

I think we may see more offer sheets this year, Gms usually don't know what the cap will be for next season till after the play offs. They know what its going to be the next two years 81.5 and possibly going to 83 in year three. Any team you offer sheet most likely won't be able to do the same to you except a few cases over the next few years. If we sent an offer sheet to Cirelli and he accepted. They have 12.7 million in cap space in 2021 roster of ten and 24.8 the following year with a roster of 8.

Players may like playing there but they can't afford to pay them good chance Cernak, Sergachev and Cirelli are gone next year.
