Dumba is not good on D, Minny loves Foligno

Detroit accepts (but Toronto fans probably won’t). I’d be willing to upgrade the 4th to a 3rd if we had to.

Jesus Christ these are bad trades. You obviously have never seen the wild play. If you are going to trade a player like Rielly, at least get Bordin and something else. The red wings trade does not deserve elaboration.

I think that’s too narrow-sighted of a view. Maybe TML should get a bit more out of that deal when you compare point totals for Reilly and Dumba, but Dumba can be half of a fantastic 2nd pairing for Leafs, he has a point shot teams have to respect, he can pot 15+ and can hit like a freight train (we didn’t have the point shot threat or the toughness this year); The Leafs’ Achilles heel this year was Right Defense. Dumba + Gudas is so much better than Ceci + Barrie. Without Reilly our LD probably falls below league average but holds it’s own as a viable NHL left D group and our RD goes from abysmal this past forever to at least league average.

Disagree that the Trades are “Jesus Christ” bad. Minnesota’s issue is at Center, not D, otherwise regarding the trade with Minn, see my reply to Kukas26. Dumba has great evolving hockey goals above replacement value. I think Kapanen just has to go for Salary cap management, he can’t play on a 2nd line, he’s a 3rd line winger with 40 point seasons in him. Toronto might need teams to retain salary like I have proposed with the Glendening trade. A 4th round pick isn’t nothing either, maybe we get a 3rd. What’s your trade value for Kapanen.

Don’t get me wrong, i would love to have Dumba. but getting rid of Rielly, whether that fetches is a good RHD or not, doesn’t make it better. Rielly is one hell of a player and should be kept.
