That's cgy deal is just bad for mtl. You're gutting half your roster for 2 players, 2 very good players, but why not keep the assets you're giving up and hope one of them turns into a difference maker? Mtl isn't far off from being competitive again this deal is a huge step in the wrong direction. Are you really comfortable putting Suzuki in as your top line centre in year 2? As for Cgy, that's a massive influx of players on a team that doesn't need a complete overhaul and I don't think any of those players are the solution to our problems. Just a weird and unnecessary deal all around

Finally a trade Calgary might actually consider if they decide to rebuild lol

Ottawa doesn’t really have an interest in either trade but we’ll take the Alzner one

Habs can role 1st 2nd and 3rd lines with relatively similar minutes.

What should the habs remove from this deal tho?

First off you can take Lindholm out of the deal, he's not being moved. Any deal here would be strictly for Gaudreau and some complementary pieces, adding another top 6 forward from Calgary s perspective would be counter productive. Calgary's in win now mode so forget Caufield he's way too far away from being a full time nhler, Drouin would fit but I'm not sure he's better than other internal options plus he's had his health issues, and unless Poehling magically develops into a #2 centre over the next 2-3 years he's definitely a redundant player in Calgary. I'm just not sure there's a fit here, maybe something around Domi + but I'm not sure.

VAN decline, they are trying to shed cap space.
