Don’t get me wrong Hall is an amazing talent but he doesn’t mesh well with McDavid. Both of them want the puck on their stick, both want to rush through the neutral zone and then distribute the puck. Stylistically he’s a better fit with Draisaitl

Hmmm I want to dump 3 years of Neal‘s contract, but I don’t want give up very much to do it.... how can I make a lateral move by giving up slightly better pieces and to keep trade in the Oilers favor.
That’s how I imagine your thought process went.

But if Broberg turns into an top pairing perennial All Star, then Wings win the trade and it was worth it. But McIsaac is no slouch, take him out and it’s closer. But kinda far fetched scenario to begin with. Kenny is not trading Broberg in a cap dump. It’s just not his style.

Red Wings accept immediately.

Too bad this trade never happens.

So the Detroit trade boils down to.

DET 3rd 2020 = DAL 2nd 2021 (weaker draft, one year out, picks will be relatively close assuming Dallas doesn’t take a nose dive)

McIsaac for Neal + Broberg, is the difference between McIsaac and Broberg worth taking on Neal? I guess it boils down to the likelihood of Broberg hitting top pairing. I see McIsaac as having top 4 potential. I’d probably do it because Broberg has some amazing tools.

The James Neal trade is hard one for me.

EDM whiffed on the Broberg draft pick.
