We need major changes

Description
I get Most Nashville fans have their favorites and don’t want to see major changes to our core but I think we need them. We need to get younger, we were one of the oldest teams in the league. Poile has to make a decision and I’m sure it’s gonna be going for the cup because he isn’t getting any younger but I think that might be the wrong choice. Nashville has a strong enough fan base to maybe have a few down years. I have watched this team look stale and comfortable and have seen them get worse every year since our cup run. Let’s blow it up a while we have players of value

Some change is needed, but trading Ekholm, Ellis, and Josi? No team would trade all 3 of those players in the same off-season.

Yea I get it. I was seeing if these were fair returns for them. The more I think about how we played the last season and a half the more I wanna see them blow this team up and get younger. We are an old team and we seem to only be getting worse

That's the defense of a lottery team. MTL needs to add in the Ekholm proposal. The Duchene deal doesn't work for me at all. I like the EDM deal though.

Remove watson and add Arvidsson and it’s more likely in the Leafs deal.

Maybe we need to be a lottery team to get some elite talent on this team. Instead of an aging team whose window is getting smaller and smaller every passing year. If we could maybe get something extra from Montreal for Ekholm I would do that deal. 11th and 15th pick would be nice plus mete is still developing

The usual cf agms will chime in...omg 9 new players! Some good ideas here, although you pretty much loss on every deal or could demand better. Congratulations on NOT being a cf homer, refreshing! lol

So you want a top defenseman and a 30 goal scorer for that package come on now

Think just arvidsson and Ellis would get that return.

Ellis and Nylander are approximately equal in value. Arvidsson is worth A LOT more than Liljegren. Johnsson is just unnecessary filler.

I'm not totally against the idea of selling off everyone they can and doing a full rebuild. If they're going to do that however, it makes more sense to get purely prospects and picks back instead of current young players. Guys like Nylander will be hitting UFA before the prospects acquired from tanking are ready. No point in buying out Turris in that case either - the $2M/yr will hurt more when those future stars are coming off their ELCs.

Montréal accepte ce cadeau pour compenser la beauté de Weber et lui éviter une couteuse retraite wink (genre jte tiens par les couilles l'ami et t,es encore dans marde). Ekholm Romanov Chiarot Kulak !! On a du potentiel!

Ummmm... no... see that 2nd line? Tolvanen out Johnsson in, watch the magic. Johnsson and nylander have great chemistry.

Little known fact on cap friendly Johnsson>Kapanen.

So you have ellis who I like but will now start to slowly decline. Nylander and Johnsson will continue to improve as they hit their primes. Then you get liljegren who has been looking good. Has developed a nice two way game. It hasn’t shown up on the box scores but he is very effective at separating people from the puck.

Nylander Johnsson and liljegren brung back arvidsson and Ellis or leafs laugh it off and walk away.

Why would we trade you 3 good pieces for one good older piece and some junk?

2 years remains on Ehkolm contract, is it worth it ? Yes he is worth the 16th OA + Mete value wise, maybe even more, but with MTL direction, the 16th OA might play for us for 10 years. IMO if I’m Bergevin I accept to bring a good veteran for the locker room

look at the leafs top 6 without nylander or johnsson...
Hyman - Matthews - Marner
Mikheyev - Tavares - ???
weak wingers with Tavares.

i don’t think this trade happens unless a second line capable winger goes back the other way, to toronto.

Liljegren is still a prospect and a unknown. Johnsson has only good season under his belt playing for a high powered offense. and most defenseman who are up for Norris are over 30 and play well well into there 30s. Jarnkrok making only 2 million a year who plays in all types of situations and positions and gets around 15 goals a year while playing tough minutes on the pk Isn’t junk. I put more defensive forward going back to you guy because that’s what you seem to be lacking

So Ellis will definitely decline, Johnsson & Nylander will definitely get better, and Jarnkrok and his value packed contract are junk? Got it.

If Johnsson is better than Kapanen, NSH would be more open to negotiating if you take him out of the proposal and add a 1st, Hallander, +.

Jarnkrok isn’t a bad piece but he is in his prime. Johnsson has had one full nhl season... and put up numbers that jarnkrok hasn’t. I guess I shouldn’t lump him in with Watson. The contract is a plus. But it’s a position that Toronto has cheaper options.

So a 1st and Hollander for Arvidsson. Leafs would still need to make moves to make the cap work. Which would involve moving Johnsson anyway. We literally have no one else to move. Not sure that really works. Leafs shouldn’t be making trades taking on more cap then they move.

Seems like it would make more sense to target a younger cheaper D and keep nylander, which is what they will do.

To be clear, I was definitely not proposing Arvidsson for a PIT's 1st and Hallander. That's a terrible underpay. I meant negotiating around taking Johnsson out of the OP and replace him with assets from the Kapanen trade, since he seems to have a lot of value to you. Johnsson isn't a player NSH wants or needs.

Yup, that’s what I meant.
I would do nylander 1st hallander liljegren., well to be honest no I wouldn’t. And if we are going by this mess of an agm... yes you do need Johnsson lol.

I would sooner move liljegren and a pick for Cernak and keep nylander. Then use the 1st to draft Schneider.
