Coming in low on just about all the trades then turn around by giving Holl away for nothing.

Not saying it's even, but Canes fans really need to get off the high praise for Pesce. He's coming off a season in which all his numbers (normal and analytics) took a pretty good hit, plus he ended the season on the IR with a pretty serious shoulder injury. He doesn't have all the value Canes fans think just because he's a right handed d-man that Toronto happened to inquire about.

Don't believe me? ... a player coming off a down year and ending it on IR after a serious injury.. Andreas Johnsson. & everyone says his value is down because of it.

In reality, Pesce for Andersen, a mid level prospect and a mid round pick makes a lot of sense for both sides

Pesce at 4 more years at that cap dollar is worth more than Anderson for 1 season. I dont think Colorado does that deal and definitely doesnt eat cash on grubby to do it.

Canes keep him without blinking. Moving Pesce without a positive difference maker makes zero sense for the Canes

Avs decline. moving up 31 picks isnt enough to justify swapping Grubauer for Johnsson, especially with retention. Unless they make another move or go after someone in free agency this leaves COL short a goalie for next season too

... an all-star goalie isn't a difference maker? LOL ok bud.

crack kills - put it down ASAP

Go look at his stats. Nothing I said wasn't true. Most of them took a dip and he's coming off an injury. Goalies have more of an impact than a d-man does and Carolina's obvious weakness for years has been goaltending. Andersen adds a reliable top starter, and Carolina also already have defence prospects and NHL players to take Pesce's spot. So you're right, you should get off the crack.

Andersen had an all star stats 2 years ago. He had a negative GSAA this year which equals not a difference maker. Ok bud

... look at the defence he played behind. He was an all-star this past season with a terrible defence in front of him. Put him behind the Canes defensive system and you're looking at a top 5 goalie.

You know that GSAA is the equalizer stat, yes?

You know that stats heavily rely on the types of chances given up and who's shooting at him right? .. something that GSAA doesn't show.

Andersen is a one year rental. If Carolina was a team close to the end of their window it makes sense but they are not and trading Pesce only makes them worse on the back end

GSAA is a stat that shows how you compare how many goals a goaltender allowed against how many a league-average goalie would allow in the same amount of shots. it's basically the leagues average save percentage. It shows nothing about the quality of shots, who's shootings them, or the defence in front of the goalie. It's not really an advanced stat and it's not that great of stat either

Except you take the chances he does face and measure him against the average of what he does save. He doesn’t get penalized for having more opportunities against than everyone else.

Also he had crap defenses two years before and had great stats. He is just an inconsistent goalie.

He has 1 year left. That gives Carolina a full year to negotiate an extension..

Canes have defence to fill Pesce's spot and have prospects. Leafs aren't just gonna throw Andersen away. It'd be either Pesce or likely the 13th pick back

Still pass. The move adds something we already have, inconsistent goalies. Takes away the one thing we don’t have, long term righty.

Doubt Carolina would extend a goalie who’s best days are more than likely behind him. The only way I see Andersen being a hurricane is if it’s part of a much larger deal similar to the Calgary trade 2 years ago

Hence why Pesce would be in that "bigger deal".. Leafs aren't just gonna throw away an all star caliber goalie. Could easily take Reimer back in the deal too, Leafs throw in a prospect and pick (as I said before) .. it makes a lot of sense for both sides

If he’s still all star caliber (he’s not) then the leafs should just keep him and look at free agency for a dman, no?

No.. they're looking to move him because he has 1 year left and they won't be able to afford him after that because he's an all star caliber goalie. It's called smart asset management.

Canes can just get the better Lehner and keep Pesce. Win-win.

I’d rather have David Ayres, he’s 1-0 against your “all star caliber” goalie

And who plays goalie for the Avs. If they somehow managed to get Lehner a long shot because he is now the man in Vegas before hand they might consider it but doubtful

that system isn't the same without their #3 d-man

Lol. Good luck. Tons of teams will be in on Lehner. I'd bet real good money that he's not picking Carolina.

Lol. Team defence is 1-0. Nice try though
