It’s j for cap reasons, although on second though isles need to add, I’ll edit the trades so there’s more of an incentive for STL to do it

You’re not getting so much in return for Allen. Taking on the money is your return. Hutton is already half the price and you want them to retain half? Buying him out would cost less. Be reasonable.

Lol “be reasonable.” Some retained salary doesnt make a trade go from reasonable from unreasonable. Maybe there’s a way to make it work w out the salary retention, but it was less work to put it there, so that’s what I did

When making a trade you have to think like both teams, not just the one you like better. There would be no retained salary on Hutton, it would make no sense to do that. Buffalo also keeps Lazar. Buffalo is saving you $2 million by taking Allen. They aren’t going to hand you any more money.

I do, Allen gives Buffalo a good tandem of Ullmark/Allen. It’s not liek this trade doesn’t benefit the Sabres. They get a large goalie upgrade for the year at quite a low cost. Take Lazar out of it fine, but I think it’s quite fair. Unless Buffalo makes a big move taking back a large contract, they can afford to retain the 1.25 mil

Just because they can doesn’t mean they will. They have you by the balls, you take what they give you. Retaining on Hutton only makes sense if you’re getting more assets back. Why burn money in a year when no one else has any just to do someone else a favor, especially when they screwed you a year ago? This is your chance to really put the screws to them and extort assets they do not want to give you. If you want them to retain on Hutton you’re adding to the deal. The gun is to your head, not theirs.

Not enough for Bozak. Komarov has a negative value at this point so a sweetener on the trade has to be better than Koivula and a 4th.
