Trading for a goalie right now doesn't make sense. Nilsson has been great for Ottawa, given how terrible they've been, and Hogberg showed a lot of promise this year, barring one brutal game.

Nilsson has been good to start off, and then he somehow screws up near the end of his time with that team. Murray on the other hand is a clear upgrade no matter how **** he’s been this past season. Sure Nilsson is good right now like you’ve suggested but you need a goalie of the future. Someone who can help Ottawa make the next step in their quest for Stanley Cup glory.

What Nilsson has done with other teams isn't really relevant. He's been a rock for Ottawa.

The plan for Ottawa has been to go with Nilsson and Hogberg in 2020 pretty much since Nilsson was acquired. This is an evaluation year for a lot of players, especially their group of goalies. Hogberg will be given every opportunity to take Nilsson's job. Maybe they come to the conclusion that they don't have confidence in any of their goalies as Starters, but that's not a decision that needs to be made now. Even if it was, I don't think Matt Murray is the guy.

They can do better for Murray.

Honestly, don't care much for this team adding 5'10 wingers. It's a mistake. We know this by now. This team needs a freaking spine.

OTT declines.

Not paying for an inconsistent goalie when were at the depth of a rebuild and have good goalie prospects in the pipeline

Other than ensuring you high draft picks... what is Nilsson going to do? You don't have to answer, it was rhetorical. Everybody else knows that he is a not that good NHL backup.

I mean.... he might not be a long term starter, but what more can you ask him to do? Since he arrived in Ottawa he's been a league average .911sv% on the worst team in the league over that stretch.

He is a starting goalie, and he’d benefit from a change of scenery. Also JR is a ****.
