Goalies that are better than Allen:
Lehner
Holtby
Markstrom
Khudobin

Greiss and Talbot are around as good as him.

So Lehner, Holtby, & Markstrom will all be number ones. Khudobin will get a pretty decent contract (definitely longer than 1 year) where he’s the 1A or 1B. As for Greiss and Talbot, I’m not sure their cap hit will be much lower than Allen’s and they’ll both get multi-year contracts.

So Allen was clearly the best choice for the habs out of goalies available now.

Not to mention none of those guys would take 1 year deals.

What's the point getting a +4M backup goalie instead of boost a much needed offense??? They're paying almost 15M for 2 goalies and they already have one of the top goalies of the league. Save space to get a top scorer like Mike Hoffman or Taylor Hall and still re-sign Domi and Mete. Nonsense for Montreal, in my opinion.

because we still have 16 Million Dollars in cap space and more picks and prospects than any other team in the league. We already have 20 similar prospects that that 3rd round pick will get us

I think you are overtinking it, but hey, it is not so farfetched.

I just think he flips him to a contender for another 3rd at TDL if Habs are out off the race.

Does he really think MTL is a legit Cup contender with their current roster? I mean, I just think that money would've been much better spent on a top six Forward or a LHD.

It makes us more competitive while we sacrificed nothing. We still have 16 Million in cap space to improve our top 6 and LHD

I love it. Whats not to like? Habs got a great backup for Price and Blues got cap space they need for Pietrangelo.

MASSIVE W!!

We used what we got from Kovalchuk to get Allen. Pretty much getting Allen for free. Thank you again St.Louis

No option to pick the Habs lost. Why they picked up Allen is beyond me.

Forget about LHD but Habs would still have around 5Mil, 11 without Domi, to add, let say Taylor Hall..

He is a solid goalie, but Habs could have done a lot more.

Maybe they are interested in developing primeau more but I would have game him a shot. So many goalies available in the first month of the season.

What goalies available that have 1 year left and are capable backup goaltenders? None of the FA goalies this year are likely to sign a 1 year deal. We don't need anything more because of Primeau. If Montreal isn't contending, we can retain 50% of Allen's contract and get more at the TD.

You’re right about moving Allen later. Like I said. Just a strange move. He’s an expensive backup. Thought for sure MB would through a sheet at Barzal. Oh well....

Nawh, that takes into account when the Pylon Alzner is sent back down to the AHL where he belongs

Do you think domi will be moved? Not bad considering you’re spending 15m on goaltending next year.

Would still love to see a Barzal OS...
