Help Me Make This Work - Murray and Dunn

Description
Help! I readily admit I don't know what I'm doing with this one as it mostly involves draft picks which I always value horribly.
Murray vs Allen - Youth vs prime, Unsigned vs $4.5M, starter vs backup/fringe starter, down year vs great year, etc. Couldn't decide where the value goes.
Dunn - young, good point totals, worth more than Bowey and Jensen and Smith were but how much more, Vatanen and Skjei were worth more but how much more
How do you make this work?

Murray probably costs a 2nd Dunn a late first and a middle prospect maybe. Maybe detroits 2020 2nd a 4th and cholo for Dunn

Murray will be for a late first or second or otherwise a player. Pens reject at a 4th. He's got too much pedigree and he's young

People are really sleeping on Vince Dunn. Great on the advanced stats; not a slouch defensively. He played mostly with Robert Bortuzzo and here are the only guys with over 100 GP over the last 2 seasons with a better 5v5 primary point rate:
John Carlson
Roman Josi
Dougie Hamilton
Victor Hedman
Morgan Rielly
Kris Letang
Brent Burns
Shea Weber
Tony DeAngelo
Tyson Barrie
Charlie McAvoy
Erik Karlsson
Mark Giordano
Damon Severson
Thomas Chabot
Jared Spurgeon
Travis Sanheim
Aaron Ekblad
end of list

He shouldn't be a cap casualty, he is just entering his prime and will be extremely affordable for what he provides.

Yeah, he was on TSN's trade bait list, so I was looking at how that would work out. Otherwise, I would've thought they would definitely keep him. They may have posted the trade bait article before knowing about the Allen trade though.

Allen trade set the market. The cost of a one year option 1B goalie rental is a mid-third. One year RFA probably moves it up by half a round (low 2nd or early 3rd). Remember, Pittsburgh needs to unload salaries and protect against losing Murray or Tristan Jarry to the Kracken for nothing. One of their young goalies is going to be traded....and that limits the cost.
Dunn isn't going to be moved. You don't move 23 year old d-men with 1st pairing/#3 d-man upside. Now given St Louis' cap issue they are susceptible to an offer sheet ($4,227,438 - $6,341,152 is a 1st & 3rd---but i think even a bridge offer of $4,227,436 for only a 2nd would send panic through the Blues front office). That's about the only way to get Dunn other than a massive overpay in draft capital. And 2.5M is significantly under-priced for Dunn as any team with more than 3.5M in cap space picking towards the bottom of the 2nd round (with their own pick) would be happy to throw that offer sheet for him.

Mantha 2 yrs x 6.5M

Mantha contract value looks right, but that term is too short. Either make it 1 year at less $ or that amount for more term.

Thanks for the input.

With Dunn's contract, I was thinking bridge deal which typically comes under arbitration like money. I was definitely sweating if it shouldn't be more though.

Yeah, I go back and forth on Mantha's contract. I want long term, but he has just been so injury-ridden recently. The thought was give him a couple of years and pay big if he is healthy most of that time. Healthy, he could hit 40 goals and be worth way more than just $6.5M. So, it had advantages on both sides to take a shorter contract although it does place extra risk on Mantha.

Oh I dont think dunn moves at all I was just speculating at costs. If they thought a offersheet was coming they might want to trade on their own terms instead of just being handed picks. Not that I think he gets an offer sheet. Someone is going to miss out on kemper I think and that's where Murray is gonna end up. Detroit has cap space to burn so id just wait the goalie market out. Someone will be dying to get some cap so you may get a guy cheap.

With Vladi out 5 months minimum an offer sheet won’t affect the blues. If they trade him it’ll be in a package for an offensive upgrade at the wing preferably a LW to play with ROR and DP57

Blues likely aren't moving Dunn. Only 23 years-old, he's already a stud on offense and will only improve defensively with experience. If Detroit wanted him (and an offer sheet could easily be matched with other moves [Bozak, Steen?] coming), Detroit would have to package a solid prospect and a 1st. As someone said above, the Blues are so deep on defense that Dunn frequently gets overlooked.

Your thought is wise. TSN is on the crack rock with this one.
