  1. Karlsson, Erik
Additional Details:
Similar to the Subban-Weber trade
Karlsson is the better player but SJ gets out of this huge contract
SJS
  1. Letang, Kris
Additional Details:
In a recent interview w/ GMJR he talked about some of his veteran stars not having the hunger like they did and he obviously wasn't talking about Crosby and it's unlikely they would trade Malkin (as they shouldn't btw) so maybe swap their veteran star Dman for another veteran star Dman who has the hunger for a championship.

would Letang waive to go to SJ

Idk if Letang would waive to go to San Jose, they are kind of in shambles, I think he'd rather just stay in Pittsburgh.

That's actually an interesting idea. I like the outside of the box thinking.

That was kind of my hope too. Plus with a few tweaks SJ could be competitive again.

San Jose was final 4 last season and had a bad bad season full of injuries this year. Top 6 RW and better play in net and we’re back in the playoffs so letang might bite, and sharks should do this trade but they won’t.

Idk if I’d think that way but I could definitely see some players thinking like that

This could be your classic win-win move. I don't see the Pens worried about this contract b/c they've already proven that they're going to throw everything and the kitchen sink to squeeze another championship out of the next few years.

I would do that trade but I don’t think Doug Wilson would. I think giving Karlsson that contract was a huge mistake. The other question here is would Karlsson waive for Pittsburgh? Maybe to play with Crosby and Malkin for the next few years.

No guarantee but I do think that Sid and Karlsson have a lot of respect for each other

Letang for Karlsson

I doubt the Penguins do that even if SJ retained $3M. That contract is an albatross.

In a few years that contract would mean next to nothing with Pittsburgh because they're going to be in a massive rebuild anyway and if SJ retained 3 mil Pittsburgh would definitively accept b/c Karlsson is certainly still a 8 mil player

Better question is would Karlsson leave beautiful California to go to Pittsburgh? With a new child born this past season I don’t think he’d waive and uproot his family for a 2nd time in 3 years to go to Pittsburgh. Sharks also probably just wouldn’t do the deal anyway as the best chance to getting back to contending is for Karlsson to be healthy and play like himself. He’s only shown that level of play for about 2 months since he was acquired thanks to the groin injury but he was the best D-Man in the league and the Sharks were the best team in the league during that stretch in 2018-19 when he was healthy and comfortable.

Today, maybe. 5 years from now, doubtful. 7 years from now, no. It's not a good contract, at all.

Don't see it as realistic but the value works
