STL hangs up the phone immediately. Also, Borowiecki isn’t leaving Ottawa. Guy loves it there.

Boro is leaving though, unfortunately... though he's gonna get more than a mil.

Multiple sources have stated that Boro plans on testing the market.

Wasn’t aware of this, my mistake. Hell, I was under the impression he was gonna be the next Captain.

Boro is leaving Ottawa, it's happening.

I also don't think STL hangs up at all. Everyone wants to keep all their best players of course, but they seem more inclined to resign Petro and if Parayko has to move this is not a bad package to do so.

Ya, it's too bad because he seemed to really love it in Ottawa and the fans loved him back.

I love Boro to death, but you don't make bottom of the lineup guys Captains. It sounds like Chabot is the next guy. I've also read that Ottawa might be looking to make a top 4 addition via trade or a short term FA signing.

As much as I wanted him to stay, Sens just have too many young guys they need to integrate into the lineup, especially on the left side right now. I would definitely have kept him and moved/buried Mike Reilly to keep Boro, but I don't think he wants to spend what is likely the last two or three years of his career as an extra D, when he could go get a bigger payday with more term and a more defined long term role.

St. Louis definitely would decline. If it comes down to Petro @9 mil a year or Parayko at 5.5, they’re probably picking Parayko. The package it would take to acquire him would be eye watering.

Where did you hear that? I’ve been assuming it’s either him or Tkachuk but because I feel like it’s really close I tend to lean more towards Chucky (mostly because he made their selection of Thomson at the draft last year and that’s usually a thing captains do)

You can't go wrong either way imo, which is a great situation for Ottawa, but Garrioch had an article a couple of days ago where he mentioned that Chabot was the frontrunner.

I think it's probably the right call, even though my preference would have been Tkachuk. I think Brady is probably too hot headed to be the captain. He's still every bit as important of a leader as Chabot, but I don't know that you want your Captain to be the guy who will go off on a guy like Scott Laughton and take it too far. I think you want a more levelheaded Captain, and you also don't want to ask Brady to reign in that aspect of his game. Chabot as Captain let's Brady lead the charge into battle while still letting him play the way you want him to play, which is the best of both worlds.

I guess this would be why Getzlaf was Anaheim’s captain and not Perry so that makes sense. I do think Brady will mature but I would hate for his antagonistic style to take a hit, annoying players are so useful lol

Sarcastic. Johnsson with his cap hit, injury and play away from Matthews and Marner/Nylander is lucky to pull a 3rd without some retention.

I think people are going to be surprised by some of the trades that happen this offseason. I think decent pieces are going to move and they won't be for the kings ransom people expect. COVID has really changed the landscape for a lot of these discussions and really altered teams plans.
