What’s with Caps fans and wanting Kuznetsov gone so badly?

He’s underachieving in this system and his contract doesn’t represent what his numbers should be

Honestly, I think the biggest factor is that moving him makes for a more interesting ACGM. The Caps don't have a ton of flexibility, and he's the only big contract that's remotely plausible to be moved, so people trade him cause it's the only way you can fit in a guy like Ekblad, Ehlers, OEL, Hall, etc. Realistically the Caps would be morons to trade him without seeing if a more experienced coach in Lavi can do a better job of motivating him and getting him to give a consistent effort, so he's not going anywhere.

Also some of the advanced stats hate him, so there are fans think he's a net negative player. He's definitely bad defensively, and maybe better off as a winger than a center, but calling him net negative just doesn't pass the eye test.

Oooops, now I see how you see the trades.

Montreal says a hard no.
Mark my words: The Habs do NOT need any more defensemen. They have a ton of NHL defensemen and a TON of GREAT prospects on D.
