While I get that, Van gets valuable pieces back in the deal and its at least fair. Considering their cap circumstances it would be hard to turn that down. Even forgot to resign shotgun jake on here I think

Swap out Ek, I don't pull the trigger on that with him in it. Take Donato instead.

oh, it's definitely fair I just think being able to have Hoglander on the team on an ELC would be huge for their cap situation.

Danato blows. Ek is the long term 3c of this rebuild and with Min going all in and getting Danault that they can extend makes losing him a non factor. Especially with all the other centers they have been trading for. The deal even have Poehling in it.

I can understand if there were reasons Min doesn't do it, but Ek isn't one of the valid ones imo

Granted I did this drunk and forgot to sign like 2-3 of the young kids I traded for which means that if the Roslovic deal goes through I could change some others.

Calgary is super deep on LW and LD and we’re not giving up Dube, easy decline

I don't care for Poehling. I have serious doubts he's a legitimate center in the NHL and think he's more likely a wing. Ek on the otherhand is one of the best shutdown centers in the league and if you haven't noticed our center depth is absolute ****. Great, we get Danault, who I much prefer over Domi, so thank you for that, but we'd have no one else under him if we move Ek.

Just as you want him to be an integral part of your success, he already is on ours. No deal. If you honestly think Poehling can be a 3C, keep him, and drop both him and Ek from the trade deal.

Calgary should not do that trade. Sure dumping Lucic is nice but Bennett is a faster version of Armia that plays center and Dube is a promising young player. Not too interested in a left handed winger rental like Tatar

Basically. OPs statement about Ek not being a valid reason to not be interested is completely ignoring the Wild's roster composition. Bringing in Danault, even extended, does not make Ek expendable. They need centers.

The trade brings in 2 centers. Like I totally get if Poehling isn't someone you believe in but saying that you can't move Ek in a deal that gets you 2 replacements is silly.

Granted I was pretty shnockered when I made this so I'm not going to tell you its the most finely crafted thing in the world, that just y'all being biased though

Your logic is all over the place here. Are the Wild trying to win now in your hypothetical scenario? If so, they don't move Ek to bring in Poehling. They keep Ek for win now center depth and figure out something else to offer.

The only thing I'd want from MTL is Danault, and not giving up Dumba or JEE for him.
-Byron is just a cheaper and less good Zucc.
-Gallagher is a rental who I wouldn't want to re-sign. Similar career stats to Zucc, but I do like Gally's overall game much more.
-Poehling might turn into Greenway.
