Description

New Jersey is in no rush becoming a contender. All they need to do is to keep their prospects and young players. Adding some veterans might help young players to develop.

Both Evgeny Svechnikov and Nick Merkley might find some success with their new teams, as it hasn't wokred out well with their current teams. Both can get a shot at becoming a full-time NHLers.

The Vancouver Canucks are having salary problems this off-season, so why not help them? It will cost them 2nd round pick to get rid of that terrible contract. 5th round pick would go the other way to make that trade more even.

you know the Devils just acquired Nick Merkley right?

also there's nowhere near enough value coming back in the Vancouver deal to take Eriksson's contract.

Would be over the moon to trade a 2nd to dump eriksson. Agreed, I wouldn't shed a tear if it was Eriksson + 2nd + Jett Woo. Wonder if there's a way to work Severson into the deal with more assets, eg stetcher going NJ's way?

And Detroit just resigned Svechnikov. I don't see either of the being traded before the season starts.

yeah I just said Merkley cause he said "it hasn't been working out with their current teams" and the kid was here for like half a season lol

For sure, I would have to be more than just stetcher providing the value on the canucks side of the trade. Then again from the canucks perspective, is severson a big enough of an upgrade over stetcher to be worth the 1st rounder? I'm not sure

Yes, but there is no chance Merkey is going to make the Devils roster with their center depth. Svechnikov could.
