Toronto does not want to trade Nylander. Toronto certainly does not want to trade Nylander to a division rival. And not for that return.

Toronto would want Petry and Domi in that deal, which should be a no from Montreal.

If Leafs were for sure adding Pietrangelo, then Nylander trade would have to involve a current roster player to help replace Nylander in top 6.

Domi is the obvious choice, but at 25 yo old the time for bridge deals is done, so his next contract won't offer huge savings compared to Nylander's.

Gallagher could also be an option. But considering that's one year of control compared to four years of control, that's a pretty big gap.

Pretty tough to find a match there.
