Ducks actually have worth with Backes and they said he’d have a full time spot. He only has a year left so there’s no reason to give up a pick in a drop draft and retain half his contract.

Internal Cap and a desire to pitch to Hall, but yes I see your point, maybe just one of those two contracts would suffice!

Isles enthusiastically accept. Don’t get me wrong, I love Boychuk (phenomenal locker room presence, even if he had slowed down quite a bit) and Koivula has been one of my favorite prospects, but we just don’t have space for Boychuk. And as much as I hate to say it, the Isles would be willing to throw in more than this.

I think there's some value for Ottawa to have a guy like Boychuck teaching Brannstrom, that's why I valued this return a bit lower than a guy who was getting bought out but I don't think Ottawa would refuse taking more!

You’re right to see Boychuk as a good mentor. Like I said, he’s a great locker room personality. And I don’t see it as an accident that our young defenseman we brought up from the AHL suddenly elevated their games into Top 4 roles. Pelech, Toews and Mayfield probably all benefited greatly from Boychuk being on the roster.

From an isles perspective, I would do this. Especially because I think Otto is a prime suspect for Seattle, so it would be nice to trade him for isles benefit rather than lose him for nothing.

So my issues with this from the Devils side:

The Devils arent gona resign Hall (said prioritizing payoffs over $) and they dont need to dump salary to do so (or in general).

PK is overpaid but hes still an NHL defenseman and we have about 3 of those under contract atm (not counting rookies we expect to play this year).

Bahl is the most intresting prospect the Devils got for Hall and the whole deal almost didnt happen because the Yotes didnt want to include him, hes not getting moved this offseason.

Lastly, I like Duclare but I believe youre overvaluing him. He had a good year, but the 2 before it were meh so hes not a guarantee. He could be a 40pt player or it could be the case of someone has to score on a bad team (no offense NJ is garbage too). Its not 1 to 1 but he could be like Dzingle last year (although he played with Stone).

they haven't been mentioned as one of the teams with an internal cap, and likely have no interest in bringing Hall back. they're not looking to give up any assets to lose a contract
