Pulock and Murry

Created by: Josh4
Team: 2020-21 Ottawa Senators
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 26, 2020
Published: Sep. 26, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Pulock should complete the first pairing with Chabot (assuming the NYI cant resign him).

Murry is a bit of a gamble since he's came off a bad year and has a history of injuries but he's young enough to fit into the Sens long term plans and brings 2 cups of experince.

I'd say if the Isles know they can't retain Pulock they're requesting Lassi Thomson in return. They'll need a guy who could be a top 4 for the future at the RD to replace Pulock for the future.

That doesn't get Pulock. Think NYI would add someone like Thompson or JBD

That makes sense, I figured they'd see Dobson as there next guy. After signing Barzal there centres are locked down so I think they'd want a winger. I could for sure seeing them ask for Thomson though.

True they definitely need a sniper added to that roster. They're probably banking on a guy like Wahlstrom developing properly.

The isles should be able to afford pulock, but if they were trade him they’d want quality over quantity. Top line winger or A prospect that projects to be a top line winger.

I only see them trading Pulock if they cant afford to sign him after Barzal (plus a hand full of depth spots). They probaly wont be able to fit a top line winger under there cap if there trading Pulock for cap reasons. Any A prospect winger on the Sens you see them asking for?

Batherson is the best wing in the system for prospects right?

If pulock was asking for 6.75 (which I don’t think is the case) then ehlers (6 mill) or boeser (5.85) makes sense. Don’t get me wrong , i like both batherson and formenton, I just see them more as solid 2nd liners. If the isles are moving pulock, they need to take advantage.

The sens wont do this, but the only way I can see isles getting a likely 1st line player is with the #5 overall. Prospects I’d trade pulock for ...nick Robertson, caufield, farabee

I see Pulock asking for somthing around 5-5.5mill short term, similar to Mcavoy. NYI have 9 mill to sign Barzal and fill out there roster (they do have depth players to come up) so i cant see guys like ehlers or Boeser fitting under the cap either. Even buying out Ladd only saves them around 750k, his cap hit is 4.8M next year if they buy him out. I just think it'll be hard for Lou to fit Pulock in without Pulock or Barazal taking taking a pretty big home town discount. Also don't know if MTL or the flyers would be interested as there defence is pretty solid. Leafs would have a hard time making it work.

I kinda feel like NYI may have to trade him and will proably lose the trade if they do but it's not ideal for them at all.

I don’t see isles trading pulock and if they did, they definitely should be able to get an A prospect +. He’s a 25 year old top pairing Dman with RFA rights. I see pulock signing for 6 mill x 5

This cap crunch will force will force the isles to lose good players for essentially nothing, but the 3RFAs are the priority so they’ll be re-signed.

On this site, Leddy is a controversial trade piece. Some think he’s a cap dump, others think he’s with a 2nd or 3rd, and then some think isles will have to trade him for a 6th/7th rd pick. Most likely the isles will have to retain 500-750 k, but he’s a solid 2nd pairing Dman and the isles will be able to move him.

Leddy (750 k retained) + cizikas trade + clutterbuck buyout gives the isles roughly 18 mill to sign their 3 RFAs and that’s with the isles ELC players filling roles.

I see what your saying, my only concern is that since the cap is not going up, more then likely there will be more teams trying to move salary out then take it on so those trades may be harder to make then in the past. This could play out either way for NYI.

I agree , which is why I think there’s a very small chance isles will be able to move out cap dumps like boychuk and ladd.

The flat cap affects the trade values of certain players , which is why like I said the isles will have to essentially trade them for nothing. It’s terrible asset management , but the isles have to do whatever it takes to retain their 3RFAs.

This one account on twitter who is right on almost every trade/signing said that isles will receive many calls on Leddy and he can possibility return a 2nd. I don’t think that’s the case , but we’ll see. I see Leddy (750 kretained) for a 4th or 5th rd pick.

Cizikas would be the easiest to move. High end 3C with 1 year left at 3.35 mill. One of the best shutdown centers in the league , drives play offensively as well. I don’t think the isles want to move him, but if they can’t dump other contracts, they’ll have to take the loss. They’ll take the loss on trades for vets, but not their top pairing RHD.
