With this team we'd have to move one of Greenway or Donato, we'd have too many players otherwise

Dumba didn't have that much value before, and he definitely doesn't have the value now. Everyone knows he's gonna be left exposed in the expansion draft. No team is gonna overpay for him. You'd be lucky to get a young 3C that might turn into a 2C but you won't get someone like Monahan.

The team is worse than it was a year ago when Fenton was canned. A big plus is Fenton would run Spurgeon out of town.

Why would we expose him? You really think he's worth exposing over Kunin/Greenway/Donato? Well just protect 8 skaters...

He's the one I'd rather keep, scored very well at 5 on 5 I'd like to see him get more ice time

I mean I think that's more a product of our players aging than anything Guerin did... But of course the roster is worse, he moved Zucker for futures. Addison looks fantastic and we'll see what that pick turns into. The way Pittsburgh is trending it could be a lotto pick

Zuccarello, Parise, Eriksson Ek, Kunin, and Greenway. Are just 5 forwards as of now that would be protected. Young guys like Kunin and Greenway shouldn't be left exposed when they can still develop.

Wild fans need to realize that Dumba isn't as valuable as they think just because he's a right handed d-man.

As frustrated as Greenway makes me most of the time, I wouldn’t trade him for 3 Donatos!

As for the rest of this, I (somewhat reluctantly) would be onboard with these moves. I would, however, play Sturm at the 4C and use Bjugstad/Donato or Greenway/Ericksson/Hartman, et al as rotational pieces based on injuries and matchups.

I know you're a big Greenway guy but I don't ever see him reaching his potential unless he magically grows a mean bone

What we don’t need to realize is the fact you know nothing about the Wild’s roster...

I typically just ignore this guy when he talks about Dumba. He acts like Dumba murdered his family and that he belongs in the AHL.

Never said he belonged in the AHL. Just said he isn't as good as Wild fans think. He's a second pairing guy that needs support in order to excel. He's a liability in his own end. Yes he provides some offence and plays physical, but when his job is to defend as a defence men first, and he doesn't do that well, he isn't that valuable. Sorry for stating facts that you can't handle.

Im only big on what Greenway CAN become, and is occasionally...not what he is most of the time. I wouldn’t shed a tear if both get moved.
The reason I would keep Greenway over Donato is because I dont think Donato is a full time NHL player. If he plays 80 games at 15 minutes a night, teams will easily figure out how to eliminate him and expose him for everything he isn’t...which is a lot!!!

Sure that's relatively accurate last year, but he's coming off a torn pec and wasn't scoring. That's Dumba's problem: when he doesn't score, he pinches in the offensive zone and forces plays which takes away his best defensive attribute, defending against the rush (which he's very good at). Two seasons ago he was dominant on a nightly basis and was our best defenseman since he was scoring and didn't feel the need to pinch and was then able to defend against the rush. The season prior to that he was nearly as good, he definitely belonged on the top pairing. That's what you're trading for with Dumba and he showed signs of that player during the play-ins. I get that you're a Leafs fan and don't want him in Toronto, which is fine I don't think he's the best fit in Toronto eother, but blatantly ignoring what he has done in his career and focusing on his stats last year is just downright ignorant.

You're actually just adding to the case that he's not that good. Saying he's coming off an injury which he wasn't able to rebound from. & saying it's been multiple seasons since he's been "good".. teams aren't gonna pay for what Dumba WAS. They'll pay for what he IS. Which is a #3 or 4 guy. He's a younger right handed version of Dion Phaneuf. Which isn't anything special.

Tearing a pec takes time to recover from... And you also ignored that I said "he showed signs of that player during the play-ins."

Ha! Curious what you think about the trades. I'm surprised nobody has commented on the Dubnyk trade, I'm obviously biased but I feel it's a pretty realistic trade with low risk and potentially high reward if a team has the $2M in cap to take him on.

I don't think anyone really cares if Dub is traded, sent to the AHL, sits in the pressbox, or gets a chance in training camp to find his old game.

I think the Calgary and Vancouver trades are fair and meet all three teams' needs.

I like the Dubnyk thinking. With Philadelphia potentially losing Elliott and Dallas potentially losing Khudobin, and a couple of other goalie vacancies opening up, I can see this sort of deal happening. Even Detroit might take this flyer. My only criticism is that you were thinking about the scheme so much you didn't notice you were typing "2020" instead of "2021."
