Canes pass. We cant afford all that cap hit when Dougie and Svech need big numbers in the off-season.

you traded for Fleury's rights but then couldnt afford to sign him? That is an interesting tactic.

I mean I can understand that the leafs are giving up a bunch of assets in the Winnipeg deal but quantity doesn't always equal quality. Kerfoot isn't really the 2C the jets need, SDA is just an okay prospect, and Holl does provide depth on their blueline but Obviously Winnipeg needs a bit more help then that. I mean I guess they could sign someone in Free Agency though.

Right like compare the two trades and what the leafs are giving up for Laine compared to what the Jets give up for Marner. I mean the Jets trade seems like just quantity outside the 1st for Laine while the Canes trade seems like quantity and quality for Marner

Personally, I would counter that by saying Marner is the better player who is cost controlled for 5 years (at a high cost mind you), which makes him more valuable by a good margin than Laine. Not to say Laine won't be a better player, but current value is different IMO.
