If Zibanejad signs Extension
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Gmonwy</b></div><div>Vegas refused to trade Krebs for Eichel, why would they for Zibinajad?</div></div>
If they got Zib signed to an extension AND get 4+M in cap space for the upcoming year, that is worth a single good prospect in my eyes.

Counting Georgiev as a cap dump is a huge reach. I see it as a potential starter, 1st, and 2 top prospects and two dumps (they gotta hit the floor anyways and they are both serviceable guys). They probably flip Smith at deadline. In my eyes this is quite the return.

Goalie Swap
Would only happen if Calgary wants to sell - can swap goalies, and ship out Freddie if they sell. He is injured ATM but expected to be back before the deadline.

Its a one year deal, so they could flip it at trade deadline with no impact on being able to sign prospects.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Windjammer</b></div><div>Winnipeg says no.</div></div>
I think they would. Statnsy obviously isn't the solution long term, but could make a strong centre ice with Schiefele/RNH/Statnsy this year. Perfetti won't step in for another 2 years and won't be ready for 2C at least for next 3/4. I think thats a problem you handle when the time comes. If you makes it better, you could do RNH + Larsson (only RNH would have extension) for Laine to even it out value wise IMO

radical
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>themostleaf33</b></div><div>I mean I can understand that the leafs are giving up a bunch of assets in the Winnipeg deal but quantity doesn't always equal quality. Kerfoot isn't really the 2C the jets need, SDA is just an okay prospect, and Holl does provide depth on their blueline but Obviously Winnipeg needs a bit more help then that. I mean I guess they could sign someone in Free Agency though.
Right like compare the two trades and what the leafs are giving up for Laine compared to what the Jets give up for Marner. I mean the Jets trade seems like just quantity outside the 1st for Laine while the Canes trade seems like quantity and quality for Marner</div></div>
Personally, I would counter that by saying Marner is the better player who is cost controlled for 5 years (at a high cost mind you), which makes him more valuable by a good margin than Laine. Not to say Laine won't be a better player, but current value is different IMO.

Leafs Acquire Kane for 15 Overall and Johnsson
Big no from Toronto, only considered if 50% retained due to cap. Not saying Kane is not an upgrade for Leafs, but just doesn't make sense for a team looking to add D.

Vancouver solving cap
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aedoran</b></div><div>How? Eriksson has 2 seasons left at $6M per so $12M and Abdelkader has 3 seasons left at $4.25M per so $12.75M. Did you mix up Abdelkader and Neilson who has 2 seasons left at $5.25M per or $10.5M thats a savings of $1.5M</div></div>
Cap space is year by year.
2020-21 4.25 (Abdel) v 6 (Loui) = 1.75 savings
2021-22 4.25 (Abdel) v 6 (Loui) = 1.75 savings
2022-23 4.25 (Abdel) v 0 (Loui) = 4.25 extra
So overall, yes it costs more, but you save more in the years where you need to sign Boeser, Hughes, Demko and Pettersson

It saves 1.75m on the cap

Vancouver solving cap
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>benjgc</b></div><div>That's a big no from Columbus. Beagle doesn't move the needle for us; we need top-6 scoring forwards, particularly a 2C. And we're not gonna take that $3M cap hit for the next two years. Throw in a high pick and we'll talk.</div></div>
Thats fair. I viewed it as a free upgrade in your bottom 6 center for nearly the same cap hit. I thought about throwing a 3rd /4th round pick in, but decided against it as I would say Beagle is a somewhat decent amount better IMO.

Vancouver solving cap
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Borocop</b></div><div>if anything you hurt the long-term cap way more.</div></div>
I think the goal of keeping the good pieces of the team together while having enough cap space next offseason (i.e. swapping Eriksson for Abdelkader saves 1.75m for that signing, retaining 50% on Sutter and Roussel trades saves 3m, etc.). This should keep the group together, while removing the bad deals. Then they can worry about Abdelkader, Myers, etc. after Pettersson, Hughes, Demko are signed with the 30m they have next off season.
