As per Bob McKenzie, Eichel may be on the trading block. The Sabres will not be competitive for another few years. They have a lot of depth to fill. Eichel may be asking to be traded, and if not the Sabres know it would be a matter of time until that happens.
The Rangers need a center, although not Eichel, necessarily. Yet, McKenzie mentioned the Rangers have interest. Having Zibanejad and Eichel would make one of the nastiest two center duo in the NHL, amplifying wingers' production.
Trading Staal was a shrewd and unexpected move, and could have been done for this reason; a starting point to making room for Eichel.
The Sabres need a goaltender, and they need depth. They acquire Georgiev, Strome, Chytil, and Smith as mostly a salary trade off. Plus, the 22nd overall pick. The package could be improved, and a couple of more pieces could be added. But, the main pieces are Georgiev, Strome, and Chytil.
The Rangers will find themselves in a tough situation as they will depend on inexpensive youth, and depth fillers via free agency. Lazar is a cheap, but useful addition. McCabe adds leadership, and depth to the blueline.
Rangers then trade DeAngelo to Winnipeg for Roslovic, another young, but experienced, NHLer with a low salary.
DeAngelo would work in the Eichel trade only if the Sabres manage to move Ristolainen first.
Probably going to get blasted fairly hard but I don’t think that’s actually too bad. A tweek or two but foundation is certainly there
Haha, yeah. But they will be the same people that would have shot down anyone's idea of NYR trading Staal for anything, and yet it happened. I got blasted for Matheson trades with the "no way he goes anywhere". Many times, big name players with big contracts do not yield a great return.
It could be better structured, but the idea is fairly realistic, I think.
Any trade for Eichel to the Rangers will have to include the 1st overall pick. Otherwise Buffalo won't listen.
And what would that solve for them? Getting the 1st overall pick would mean getting Strome, at best and that's it. It is a team in need of depth for next season and the ones after. Not a rookie 1st overall that may not even pan out, and little then. They need pieces now. They are losing a lot of depth to free agency this off-season.
I don't think demanding the 1st overall fixes anything for them. Other than finding themselves back to square 1 when they drafted Eichel and failing since.

That would make Eichel happy. Rangers get to keep Strome and Smith. Maybe the Sabres take Buchnevich to even out the money???
Dude I am so tired of obnoxious Rangers trade proposals. Like They are making these proposals for Barkov, Eichel, Matthews, Seguin, Point, Stamkos and giving up the same bad package of Buch, Strome, Car 1st, Smith, and Georgiev
Did you actually read the whole thread or you dumb and can’t read more than the two words you want to. McKenzie also said that Jack has not asked for a trade and that even though the Sabres took calls it was basically teams asking if they’d be interested in trading Eichel and Adams quickly turning them down. Also NYR don’t have the pieces to get Eichel.
Someone screenshot that tweet to me and that's all I saw. Kind of obvious though that Eichel is not happy in Buffalo. Next time, don't be such a jack ass.

Buffalo trading Eichel would mean they are giving up and rebuilding completely...it would cost 1st overall and then some. The Sabres might be losing a ton of depth but they certainly aren't losing quality depth, the reason the Sabres have been so bad is nobody outside of 4 players one of which is Eichel is any good...trading Eichel for depth is a joke

Then look up the entire quote you dumb ass. You have the internet it’s not that hard. Also it’s not kind of obvious that he’s not happy with being in Buffal, he’s not happy with losing. Which no one here is. We have a new GM who seems like he at least sounds like he knows what he’s talking about. Stop with the dumb ass trades that you and your dumb fellow ranger fans come up with. Even if the Sabres traded Eichel what makes you think you aren’t trading your best player for him. Eichel is a franchise Center who’s going to o be a top 5 player in the league for a long time you don’t get a player like that for a bunch of cap dumps and a goalie prospects. Besides that why the hell would we be giving anything else up with Eichel to get the players you offered. At least use your head if your gonna try to trade for an untouchable player
Value is there. However, the only way any team is gonna trade a superstar is if a star and a high potential prospect comes back in return. None of these players fit that quota.
No I know. Sorry my bad haha. I was venting lol. Just exhausted after seeing these proposals todat
I've read 8 million Frederick Andersen to a team that doesn't need him for a 1st and top prospect.
Usually the Rangers are trading Smith to Ottawa to 'help' them get to the floor.
Stevie Yzerman must have owed someone something to take Staal for a 2021 2nd. Now every team with some cap are supposed to help them out. At least Car got pick 13 for taking Marleau's dump from Toronto..

They are losing bodies to free agency and to be harsh they are losing garbage to free agency. Only one I would attempt to bring back is Larsson as a 4th line center. It's not about pieces it's about quality. Eichel is quality and is just about to reach his prime, he has 6 yrs left on a contract he has to honor or go to europe to play...it's that simple. If a team wants him they will have to pay the price and not in the number of pieces in return.
The Pegulas have lost the fans and this trade would anger them even more. So as I have said in other Eichel trades to NY, NY 2020 1st, Zibs and a prospect and NY says no, both parties wish the other luck and they hang up

I didnt mean adding the 1st overall pick to the trade proposed here. I meant a trade that includes at the least the 1st overall pick.
