Necas is a very good forward on an ELC, also expansion exempt

Zucker is old and expensive, Canes are close to cap

Canes are looking to contend now. Players like Necas still on their ELC are worth their weight in gold.

A mid to late round 1st does absolutely nothing for CAR
today, when they’re looking to contend. Could care less about the 2 prospects. CAR has a very deep pool, fringe prospects not needed.

Need me to cover anything else?

Of course not, but I wouldn’t trade him for an overpaid, aging winger, a 1st and trash prospects. If he’s potentially overrated, why are you offering so many assets for him?

The Blues are set in goal with Binnington & Husso. They'll add another veteran goalie in UFA to push Husso, but it's his spot to lose. No chance they'll be giving up picks for DeSmith.

Would you trade Marino for a 30yr old D making over $5M, a draft pick and marginal prospects? Likely not. Players contributing at a high level on an ELC in a cap world are worth a whole lot, whoudda thunk it?

Why would Carolina trade a player who is on his way to becoming a yearly 60-70 point producer to a direct competitor for a couple of prospects including one who’s ceiling is 3rd line winger....

I agree. He's a bit overrated imo. And I'm pretty sure Holland said he's not trading a 1st for a goalie or something like that.
