I would imagine his value is more than just a first as he is n2 LD after Girodano and no one knows when Gio will start declining at his age. It would probaly take a guy like Domi+Mete+3rd or Josh Anderson+1st
or DeBrusk+1st

As a Flames fan, I really like him. He had a bit of an underwhelming season so some of our impatient fans are already willing to part ways. He's being viewed by the organization as a high value asset that should help garner an impact player (Top 6 FWD, top 4 RHD or legitimate starting goalie.) By all accounts they aren't interested in futures as they (mistakenly imho) believe they are in their competitive window so if they do move him, it will be as a part of "hockey deal"

I don't think they should trade him. They should be, objectively speaking, more futures focused and be looking to move on from some of our veterans (Giordano, Gaudreau, Monahan, Ryan) for picks and high end prospects but I seem to be the minority in that regard.

I really like Hanifin too and think the Devils should go after him.

A lot, he’s a 23yo top 4 D signed to a good cap hit for term. We gave up Hamilton, Ferland, and Fox for him and Lindholm and we’re happy with that deal so that should show the value he has to the organization, and the level of skill required to be coming back. He won’t be traded for a handful of maybes and futures
