A 1st round pick would let you dump Boychuk. If you want to dump Komarov also, NY needs to add.

If Greene wants to come back for cheap, Lou will be all over it. Plus Trotz is a big fan of Leddy so if they can keep him I think they will. Idk if they’ll trade both Leddy and Boychuk because you need depth and say they didn’t keep Leddy and they got rid of Boychuk, what happens if someone gets hurt? Then you have Aho playing every night. There’s definitely a good chance both Leddy and Greene are back given how good they were together in the playoffs.

I could see that however I based it off of a report I saw that the Red Wings could pursue Hickey. His AAV is only 2.5 and has 2 years left maybe a rebuilding club could look to find some value out of him as he has had success in the past. He’s kinda been the odd man out and hasn’t had a chance since Toews came up.

Dobson is one of the best up and coming defenseman in hockey and he paid his dues last season. He is 100% ready.

I doubt that. Bolduc is a former 2nd round pick and is still young and could definitely become an NHLer at some point. He’s got size and if he develops right I think he can be a quality defenseman and the Isles know that. Don’t think they give him up with Hickey, who is only making 2.5.

I still think Boychuk is a more than capable NHL defenseman. I like the way he plays as he is physical and often puts his body on the line blocking a lot of shots. He’s also a good leader and he’s loved in the Isles room. Same with Komarov. Gritty player and a veteran leader in the room. Guys have loved him since he came to LI. I think the Kings would gladly take a 1st. They’re rebuilding and these guys are both more than capable of playing for that team. And worst case scenario they buyout the final year on Boychuk if they don’t like him. It’s not like they are signed for 5 years. It’s 2 years for a team that’s not gonna be in the playoffs anytime soon.

I do agree with you. However I believe that if the Isles were to trade Leddy, they would sign another defenseman for cheap or trade for one. You need depth. And I still don’t think it’s a given the Isles move on from Leddy. Boychuk is much more likely to get moved IMO and is it really worth trading Leddy for a mid round pick?

If they trade Leddy , Dobson-Greene will be the 3rd pairing and boychuk would be the 7D. Boychuk is one of the worst defenseman in the league

If they are gonna keep one of the other between boychuk and Leddy, I’d rather it be Leddy. Leddy’s contract is a little cheaper and he’s younger and he’s not that bad of a player.

Hickey is not overly expensive. I saw a report that said the Wings would look into him.

It’s better asset management to trade Leddy for a pick than give up multiple assets to dump boychuk.

If boychuk is traded after the signing bonus its only 5.25mil over 2 years. I think a first covers boychuk in that case then add maybe a 4th or 3rd for Komarov

Leddy at times can be very productive. He’s still useful on the PP and he brings more value than Boychuk does. I don’t think the isles would land anything more than 3rd or 4th for Leddy however.
