Not only is that not enough from the Rangers to acquire Laine, the Rangers are also better off keeping those 3 guys over him.

selling low on kakko is a mistake. when he was drafted he was more highly rated than laine was when he was drafted. he had a bad season. we don't know, the kid can score 30 goals with 70 points this season. if he does that he is more valuable than laine because of his cap hit.

Regardless of return it's the absolute lowest leverage he'll ever provide in terms of value. Would be nice to not have to include much extra with him for Laine.

In fairness that's about roughly what OP suggested:

Kreid + 9th overall recently + 58th overall
Buch + 28th overall recently + 25th overall

The historic u20 SHL season for Nils probably tilts it but Kravstov was 3rd on his team in scoring as a 20 year old in the KHL so. I dunno it's pretty close. Hm.

Buch is much younger than Kreider tho
